DallasNews.com has a few details about the Wingstop eating contest. The contest will be 12 minutes long and take place at 6pm central before a Dallas Stars hockey game. In a December episode of Outrageous Food Stephanie Torres faced off against four men in an Extreme Grizzly (7 pound) burrito eating contest at Marianito’s in San Antonio. A clip of her segment has been uploaded:

In last night’s episode, Jessica “Queen of Cuisine” was part of a group of women that attempted to eat a single Dog Pounder burger at Lumpy’s Diner in Antioch, CA (She has finished the burger without help) The results of the team challenge was not televised. Stephanie Wu’s name could also be read on the plaque listing the finishers of the “Initimidator” omelet.

Information about the team rib eating contest to be held at the Big Texan in Amarillo, Texas has been posted on Amarillo.com. Qualifiers will be held on Tuesdays in January and February and the finals will take place on March 8. Teams will have four members and the registration fee is $100. In a seven-part article for the Dallas Observer, Patrick Michels uses Nathan Biller’s career as a starting point to explore the history of the IFOCE/MLE and competitive eating in general. While quite thorough, the article does not mention the cancellation of the Krystal Square Off or the admission by Mortimer Matz, Nathan’s promoter in the 1970’s, that the 1916 “origin story” of the Coney Island contest was a fabrication.
