Okie Burrito in San Antonio will hold a burrito eating contest on July 2 awarding $1400 ($900 to the winner). Weekly qualifiers will be held on Saturdays starting April 23 and award $150 to the winner in addition to a slot in the finals.
Eldorado Jack's in Montgomery, TX (north Houston area) will hold a wing eating contest on Saturday that will reportedly award more than $1000 in cash (prize breakdown not listed).

The date on the novelty check was not changed from February 1 and the check makes it appear that the entire $10,000 purse goes to the winner. update A contest report has been added containing an interview with Pat Bertoletti, who thinks the totals might be exaggerated.

The Dallas Observer reports that a spokesperson for Wingstop says that the fate of tonight’s eating contest has not been decided yet. (Joey Chestnut is already in Dallas and appeared on local news yesterday)

Competitors and spectators traveling to the Wingstop wing eating contest should bring their winter clothes. A winter storm is predicted for the south central and north east united states next week. Weather.com predicts the Dallas weather on Tuesday will be a wintry mix (chance of precipitation 80%) with a high of 43 and a low of 19.
