The New York Times reports that 85 year old former New York City mayor Ed Koch ordered a 32 ounce steak in Buffalo called the Brontosaurus and quit after eating seven bites.

Furious Pete on “Winner’s Bracket”

A clip of “Furious” Pete Czerwinski on yesterday’s Winner’ s Bracket on ABC has been uploaded. In this segment, Pete’s 72 ounce steak video faced off against a NBA summer league dunk in the semifinals of a 16 item tournament.

In the first two rounds, the clip defeated a catch by a ballboy and outfielder Jason Bay running into a wall.

"Furious" Pete Czerwinski has uploaded a video of him eating a 72 ounce steak in 6:52 at a CFL game in Hamilton, Ontario Friday.
"Furious" Pete Czerwinski's facebook announces that he ate a 72 ounce steak (meat only, no sides) in 6:48, which will be recognized by Guinness as a world record. Pete also won a contest to guess the number of OMG burgers sold by The Catch restaurant in Anaheim.

Traders Village in Houston has a gallery of a contest where competitors ate the 72 ounce steak meal from the Big Texan Steak Ranch. Bud Caudill finished his meal in 28 minutes and Donice Krueger was the runner up with a time of just under 40 minutes. (The only faster female time for the 72 ounce steak meal I am aware of is 30 minutes for Carlene LeFevre).

Site of a free 48 ounce steak

The 48 ounce steak at Shula’s Steak House does not offer any awards besides being added to the finishers list, but Sam’s Steakhouse in Terre Haute, Indiana and Marshall, Illinois has a 48 ounce steak that is available for free. The time limit is 20 minutes, same as Adam Richman’s goal time. Bodybuilder Isabelle Turell received a free 48 ounce steak in 2008.
