CocoWalk in Miami announces the winner of its hot dog eating contest will receive a prize package worth $1,000.

This is the first southeast Florida Nathan’s qualifier since a 2007 contest held at the Florida Panthers arena. In 1997, Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections Theresa LePore, famous for creating the “butterfly ballot” used in the 2000 presidential election, would serve as a judge for the Boca Raton Nathan’s qualifier in 1997.

Mary Bowers’ seatmate tweeted: “The lady i sat next to on the plane was flying from LA to Miami to compete in a hot dog eating contest… #goodlord”. Mary appeared on 10local news this morning

Golden Lady Wallace declined an invitation to compete, so apparently spots are still available.

Integrated Media Planning will hold a hot dog eating contest Friday awarding four Miami Heat tickets. Proceeds will benefit Lance Armstrong's LiveLong Foundation. The contest location is not clear from the ad, presumably it will take place somewhere in Fort Lauderdale.
BGR The Burger Joint in Coral Cables, FL will hold a slider eating contest on September 18 awarding $500 to the winner. A slider eating contest might also be held at the BGR Atlanta location on that date. update A blog entry about the Atlanta contest is available.
The Miami New Times has a report on yesterday's hot dog eating contest won by Juan Angel, the third place finisher in the Miami Hooters wing qualifier.

The contest is expected to start at 7 pm and will take place at the Fontainbleu Hotel, where the James Bond classic Goldfinger begins. The competition is being held in conjunction with the 16th Annual Hooters International Swimsuit Pageant. Tim Janus is a late addition to the field.

The Miami New Times has an article about Sonya Thomas' wing eating exhibition at the Hooters qualifier at the Fontainebleu Hotel tomorrow night.
Miami.com reports that Joey Chestnut and Rebecca Oey, winner of TooJay's amateur contest will compete in the Hooters wing qualifier in Miami on June 22 and Sonya Thomas will do an exhibition. Eric "Badlands" Booker and Yasir Salem are also expected to compete.
Registration for the Hooters qualifiers in St. Louis (May 26) and Miami (June 22) will open tomorrow at 11 am.
Registration for the rest of the qualifiers in the Hooters wing eating circuit will open Thursday at 11 am. The announcement mentions a Miami qualifier which is not on the schedule.
Duffy's Sports Grill in North Miami Beach will hold a wing eating contest on Sunday awarding two tickets to the April 6 Miami Heat game.
A facebook event page claims a hot dog eating contest will be held in Miami on February 11 with a listed purse of $19,500 (first prize $8000). I have not found any additional information about the contest.

Youtube has a video about the construction of the set for tonight’s live episode of Man vs. Food. The show’s facebook page lists what will be involved in the program:

300 guests, 150 crew members, 120 minutes of MvF fun, 68 degrees (tonight’s forecast), 48oz Porterhouse, 16in Cuban sandwiches, 10lb hamburgers, 8 hi-def cameras, 6 NFL players taking spicy hot wings challenge (including Dhani Jones), 5 food stations for guests, 1 giant Man v Food Live scoreboard.
