RA Sushi will have Maki Madness sushi eating tournaments at five locations this month: Baltimore, Atlanta, Huntington Beach and San Diego (all March 21) and Miami (March 31)

CityPaper on “Swallow Your Pride” screening

The Philadelphia City Paper has an interview with Bill “El Wingador” Simmons who will attend Monday’s screening of the Wing Bowl documentary “Swallow Your Pride” at National Mechanics in Philadelphia. Simmons believes he should have defeated Sonya Thomas in the 2004 Wing Bowl.

New look for IFOCE.com, Hall of Fame announced

IFOCE.com has been updated with a new look. The content appears to be essentially the same except for currently empty Hall of Fame and Eats of Strength pages. Competitive Eating News lists Don Lerman as a candidate for the first Hall of Fame inductee despite his competing in non-IFOCE contests after his IFOCE retirement.

Tonight's episode of Man vs. Food will be a clip show of meals containing meat from previous episodes.
Blue C Sushi in Seattle will hold a sushi eating contest. The finals will award $200 cash and six qualifiers will be held in March.

IFOCE May 2010 schedule

The MLE facebook lists three new May 2010 contests:

  • May 1 Philly cheesesteaks, Dorney Park, Allentown PA
  • May 8 Boneless wings, Isle of Capri, Boonville Missouri
  • May 22 Poutine, Toronto (first IFOCE Canadian contest since 2003 Vancouver Nathan’s qualifier)

I have not seen any news about a MLE contest at the Big Texan in Amarillo on April 10 since it was announced in Nations Restaurant News.

The twitter for 1834 Bar & Burger reports that the new Manhattan restaurant will hold a 10 pound burger eating contest soon.

Third Battle of the Bone (Phoenix area) announced

A press release announces the 2010 Battle of the Bone. Weekly qualifiers will be held in Phoenix-area Native New Yorker restaurants starting March 3 in Tempe. The finals will take place on August 21 and award a motorcycle valued at approximately $10,000. The contest is restricted to amateurs.
