Gravy Brown edges Joe LaRue in Atlanta

The MLE facebook reports that Tim “Gravy” Brown edged Joe LaRue by one hot dog in the Atlanta area qualifier, 28 HDB to 27.

The eating contest twitpics have a photo of Gravy Brown with the trophy, who ate 28 hot dogs.

The qualifier in Newnan Georgia should start at 1pm. The eatingcontest twitpic has started posting pictures.

Pete Davekos wins Hartford qualifier, Larell Marie 3rd

Bryan Beard denied Coney spot despite qualifier win

Bryan “Big Sexy” Beard commented that he has been denied a slot in the July 4 Nathan’s finals despite winning a qualifier Saturday at San Jose State with 18 hot dogs. A minimum of 20 hot dogs was listed in confirmation emails, but does not appear on the IFOCE or Nathan’s website.

Previous qualifier winners who ate less than 20 hot dogs have appeared in the finals (since 2005)

The only information I have obtained about the San Jose State qualifier is that Bryan “Big Sexy” Beard will be competing in it. I don’t know what time it will be held or where on the San Jose State campus it will take place.

Ben Monson wins Nathan’s Las Vegas qualifier w/ 29 HDB

update From Las Vegas has a video of the end of the contest The second place finisher had 15 HDB according to the flip cards. Ron Koch had 14.

A contest has started at NathansSweepstakes.com awarding the winner a trip to New York City to judge the Nathan's finals (video). A Nathan's judgeship is also on sale in a charity auction (current bid $395)
George Shea announces that Ben Monson will compete in the first Nathan's qualifier in Las Vegas on May 6.
NBCConnecticut has an article about the May 15 Nathan's qualifier in Hartford listing Pete Davekos and three others as expected entrants.
Tonic.com reports that a Nathan's finals guest judgeship is an item for sale in an online auction at BiddingForGood.com to benefit the Children's Museum of the Arts. The minimum bid is $340 and the closing date is May 13.
The eatingcontest twitter says that there will be one Nathan's wild card awarded to the top non-winning competitor in the 2010 qualifiers.

2010 Nathan’s qualifier schedule released

IFOCE.com has announced the 2010 schedule for Nathan’s qualifiers:

(via usaplayers.com) Intertops is now taking bets on the 2010 Nathan's finals for most of the 2009 finalists. The odds do not appear to take into account Bob Shoudt's recent emergence.
NWEMail.com reports that Ladbroke's is already taking bets on the 2010 Nathan's finals: Joey Chestnut is a 1/2 favorite and Kobayashi is listed at 7/4 to regain the title.
