Philly Mag has an obituary for Abner Silver, owner of Jim's Steaks in Philadelphia, who passed away earlier this month. The restaurant maintains a cheesesteak eating record (Pat Bertoletti is the current holder) which was started when Lynda Kuerth won a 1977 competition. The University of Pennsylvania student newspaper has a report on that event (on page 15).
Kevin "Quasy" Ambs won the sandwich eating contest yesterday at the Bologna Fest in Lebanon, PA. Jack Diamond was the runner up.
Bleed Philly has a response to Philadelphia Magazine's column examining if the Wing Bowl should be terminated. Barstool Philly has a podcast with "Skin & Bones" about competing in the Wing Bowl.
Philadelphia Magazine's column titled "Wing Bowl: Is It Time to End It?" is now available online. Richard Rys makes a comparison with Ray Rice assaulting his fiancee with the treatment of women at the Wing Bowl.
