Web page for Japanese MLE Game

A web page has been set up for the Japanese version of the Major League Eating video game at http://www.mlegame.com/japan/ The list of characters confirms that Rich LeFevre and Juliet Lee have been replaced by Nobuyuki “The Giant” Shirota and Hatsuyo “The Witch” Sugawara. The foods will remain the same, with Nathan’s hot dogs and Krystal burgers as two of the available items. The game will be released tomorrow.

SonyaTheBlackWidow.com brings up a generic search page. Sonya Thomas did not apparently receive a slot in tomorrow's corned beef contest if she registered for it.
MosesNews.com has been restored, but DeepDishEats.com brings up an account suspended page.
Both MosesNews.com and DonMosesLerman.com currently bring up a page on securepayment.net saying the site is currently unavailable.

"First Timer Wins Wing Bowl Championship" is the most viewed story on philly.com this month.

Wing Bowl 17 doubles philly.com traffic

The PhillyDeal$ blog reports that philly.com received 4.1 million online readers on the day of Wing Bowl 17, more than twice the normal amount. The only other event to produce more traffic to the website was the Phillies recent World Series victory.

EatFeats twitter page started

A page at http://twitter.com/eatfeats has been set up. The main purpose of the page is to provide status reports in case of eatfeats.com outages (Eatfeats was down from about 5am to 10am eastern on Friday due to server issues, three days after its web hosting account was extended ) I do not expect to make a twitter update for every eatfeats blog entry.

BigTexan.com revamped

The website for the Big Texan Steak Ranch has been updated. A page about Joey Chestnut breaking the 72 ounce steak record has been added. The foreword of the Story of the Free 72 oz. steak, which is now available at Barnes & Noble, can be read online. The webcam for 72 ounce steak attempts remains, but the finishers database, which was removed in 2005, has not been restored.

FuriousPete.com launched

“Furious” Pete Czerwinski has started a web page at FuriousPete.com. On his news page, Pete says that the Sport Science: Competitive Eating program he appeared in will be televised in March and that he will also be recorded for a special on the National Geographic channel. There is also a page about his upcoming charity stunt.

BeautifulBrian.com returns

Brian Seiken has set up a website at the http://beautifulbrian.com/ URL. There is not as much content as the site had when it was hosted on hometown.aol.com, but additional material will be forthcoming.

STBW.com restored

After being down for approximately 6 weeks, SonyaTheBlackWidow.com is now back online. Neither the website hiatus nor Sonya’s future plans are mentioned on the news & notes page.

Sugawara starts blogging

Tomoko Miyake reports in her blog that Hatsuyo “the Witch” Sugawara has started a blog at ameblo.jp/withwitch. The blog began on Sunday and there are already 16 entries which are more about books than competitive eating. Sugawara has also posted a questionnaire (her favorite movie is “A League of Their Own”)

New look for DennysBeerBarrelPub.com

The website for Denny’s Beer Barrel Pub has been revamped and now has a blog listing challenge burger attempts and other news. No links to the old finishers database appear to be present on the new site, but the database still works. Brad Sciullo finishing the Belly Bruiser is not mentioned on the new site, but a picture of Brad is present.

BeautifulBrian.com content dropped by AOL

BeautifulBrian.com, and all URLS on it, now brings up a generic AOL page about the demise of hometown.aol.com. In September, three of the most frequently updated websites by current or former IFOCE eaters were BeautifulBrian.com, SonyaTheBlackWidow.com and MosesNews.com. All three websites are currently down or have dropped competitive eating as a topic.

October 2003 Bits & Pieces reposted

BeautifulBrian.com has reposted the “Bits & Pieces” from five years ago. Brian had the following information about Dale Boone:

At the Pelmeni contest last month i couldnt understand why Badlands walked away from Dale Boone after Boone gave him a friendly pat on the back. Badlands had explained to me that Boone was calling all the eaters in Buffalo and waking them up at 4 AM. I dont know Boone that well but that doesnt seem like a very nice thing to do.
