The Copa de Hot Dog Sonoran Hot Dog eating contest will take place at Sir Veza's in Tucson on September 16 in honor of Mexican Independence Day. Prizes of $500 will be awarded to the winners of the men's and women's divisions.
Naader Reda & “Aubrey” win Big Butte Burger contests

Naader Reda announces that he won yesterday’s 30 minute Big Butte Burger eating contest at Lone Butte Casino in Chandler, AZ by eating almost two 4.5 pound sandwiches. “Aubrey” (almost certainly Aubrey Koehn) won the speed eating contest by eating a Big Butte Burger in 5 minutes.
93.3 KDKB has slots available in tomorrow's "Big Butte Burger" eating contests tomorrow that do not require qualification. The two competitions at Lone Butte Casino in Chandler, AZ will pay out $3,500.

BattleOfTheBone4.com announces that Colin Gardiner won the Battle of the Bone 4 finals for the fourth year in a row and received a Toyota Tundra truck. Kevin Ross was the runner up and received Arizona Diamondback season tickets for the 2012 season. In a comment, Kevin Ross says there were some questions about the judging.

Wayne Finlinson won the final qualifier for the Battle of the Bone in Germann, AZ on Wednesday, making Kevin Ross the only qualifier from outside Arizona competing in the finals on August 20.
Kevin Ross won the penultimate Battle of the Bone qualifier in Gilbert, AZ on Wednesday with a total of 3.7 pounds of wing meat in 11 minutes. In the comments, Kevin announces that he has decided to become an independent and leave the IFOCE. There will be one more qualifier in Germann, AZ on August 10.
There are two qualifiers left in the Battle of the Bone 4 contest that will award a Toyota Tundra at the Talking Stick Resort in Scottsdale, AZ on August 20. No one from outside Arizona appears to have qualified for the finals even though the contest was opened to professional eaters.
The Lotte Butte Casino in Chandler, AZ (Phoenix area) will hold two burger eating contests on August 27. One contest will see who can eat the most burgers in a fixed time period, the other will see who can finish one burger the fastest. Both contests will award ($1000 / $500 / $250 bonus play). The Phoenix New Times has an interview with Erik "The Red" Denmark about Saturday's Nathan's qualifier at Arizona Mills in Tempe. Denmark says he is considering writing a book about his competitive eating experiences.
AZCentral reports that the Heart Attack Grill in Chandler, Arizona is closed until at least June 15 and may not reopen unless a dispute with city planning officials about the restaurant's color of paint can be resolved. The Heart Attack Grill opened a second location in Dallas in May.
