Kelce brothers on competitive eating
In the latest New Heights podcast, Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs and retired Philadelphia Eagle Jason Kelce discussed competitive eating near the start of the podcast at around the 13 minute mark. Jason talked about receiving a Guinness record for catching with a bun the longest hot dog thrown which followed with Travis talking about his fears of being forced to compete in a hot dog eating contest. Today is the 10th anniversary of the inaugural Nathan’s Famous women’s division. Nothing has been heard from the original top 3 in over 20 months, with Juliet Lee and Stephanie Torres passing away and Sonya Thomas going radio-silent after a mystery disqualification in the 2018 finals.
Mary Bowers is a surprise omission. There do not appear to be any unexpected entrants.

Quarantine expansion puts Nathan’s field in doubt
New York governor Andrew Cuomo announced that he is expanding the list of states whose residents must self-quarantine for 14 days after arriving in his state, which will apparently prevent Matt Stonie (CA), Gideon Oji (GA) and Michelle Lesco (AZ) from competing in the 2020 Nathan’s Finals if they cannot get an exemption. Earlier today, Rich Shea appeared to confirm that Michelle Lesco will not be able to compete. Joey Chestnut is already in New York, so he is not affected by the directive.

Tom Gilbert is expected to be the primary threat to Max Suzuki. This will be his first MLE contest since the 2013 Las Vegas Nathan’s qualifer. His total of 31 was the highest non-winning total on the 2012-13 circuit, but he did not receive the wild card spot in the finals which went to Erik Denmark.
Michelle "Cardboard Shell" Lesco ate 150g of pasta in 26.69 seconds on AZFamily.com to promote Oregano’s Pizza and St. Mary’s Food Bank’s “Carbs For A Cause†. The time broke the Guinness record of 41 seconds, which requires diners to use a fork and not lift the plate of the table. Youtube Video
