Registration is currently open on IFOCE.com for the Magnify Credit Union World Ice Cream Eating Championship, to be held at the Florida Ice Cream Festival in Lakeland, FL on April 6. The Ledger announces that Joey Chest is expected to compete.
The Pierogi Grill in Clearwater, FL will hold an eating contest on February 24 awarding $1,000 to the winner.
Bebo's Reloaded in Winter Haven, FL is holding a four pound hot dog eating contest on Saturday. The entry fee is $200 and the winner will receive the entire pot (currently $1000).

2012-13 college football bowl eating contests

Several college football bowls held eating contests as part of their pre-game activities:

  • Rose Bowl (Pasadena, CA) Wisconsin defended their Lawry’s Beef Bowl title by eating a total of 619 pounds of prime rib to defeat Stanford by 17 pounds. Joshua Garnett and Dallas Lewallen of Wisconsin were reportedly the individual winners with 7 24-ounce steaks eaten.
  • Chick-fil-A Bowl (Atlanta) LSU outate Clemson at Sal Grosso’s Brazillian Steakhouse by 624 pounds to 454
  • Music City Bowl (Nashville) NC State outate Vanderbilt by 19 ribs. NC State’s Rogers Clark ate 21 ribs in 2 minutes to win the individual contest.
  • Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl (Tempe, AZ) Michigan State ate an average of 33 wings per player to defeat TCU by a margin of 13. MSU’s Shawn Kamm was the individual winner with 65 wings.
  • Outback Bowl (Tampa) Ashton Tate of South Carolina ate 8 mini key lime pies to defeat Michigan’s Ben Braden by 3 pies.

Teddy won first place and a prize of $250 in a Dagwood eating contest held Saturday at Lucky Dill in St. Petersburg, FL. Stephanie Torres was runner up and Craig Reed was 3rd.
Lucky Dill in St. Petersburg, FL will hold a three pound sandwich eating contest on December 8 awarding $700 ($500 to the winner).
The top 3 in today's chicken slider eating championship at GameTime in Tampa: 1) Eric Dahl 24.75 sliders 2) Stephanie Torres 20 3) chris Abatsas 14.
Two new pizza challenges have significant prizes. Village Pizza in Hartsville, TN will award $500 to a team of two people that can finish its 30 inch challenge. Sam's NY Pizza will award $200 and a Bahamas cruise for two to a person that can finish its 28 inch pizza.

A qualifier for the National Cheeseburger Slider Eating Championship will be held today at BGR in Tampa (female bodybuilder Emery Miller will apparently compete). The date was originally announced as September 28. Additional qualifiers awarding $500 and a trip to the championship in May 2013 will be held tomorrow in Bethesda, MD, Coral Gables, FL, Atlanta and possibly Point Loma, CA.

BGR The Burger Joint will hold a qualifier for the BGR National Cheeseburger Slider Eating Championships in North Tampa September 28. The winner will receive $500 and a spot in the finals in Washington, DC on May 28, 2013.

Joey Chestnut and Lewis Richards from London, England along with the 10 qualifier winners are listed as expected competitors in the Hooters World Wing Eating Championship in Clearwater, FL on July 26. update July 20 Tim "Eater X" Janus was left off of the entrants list even though he won a qualifier.
The MLE facebook confirms that the Hooters wing eating contest finals will take place in Clearwater, FL on July 26 instead of in New York City on July 27. The new finals site was mentioned in a June 26 press release about the Fresno pre-qualifier.
CBSLocal and SunSentinel have lists of Tampa Bay and South Florida eating challenges.
A press release announces a Hooters wing contest in Fresno on July 7 that will award the winner a berth in the Hooters qualifier at the California State Fair in Sacramento on July 14 to compete for a chance to participate in the finals in Clearwater, FL on July 26. The original finals date and site was July 27 in New York City.
An article about the opening of BGR in Carrollwood, Florida repeats the claim that its 9 pound burger challenge has been used in an I.F.O.C [sic] eating contest.
Tonight's episode of Man v Food: Nation will feature food trucks. The challenge will be the six pound burrito from the White Rabbit Truck in Los Angeles, which has only been finished by Aaron Ybarra and Naader Reda. The Taco Bus in Tampa will be another visited restaurant.

Man vs. Food: Nation to open with New Haven, CT on June 1

The site of the first episode of Man vs. Food: Nation to be televised (at 9 pm eastern on June 1) will be New Haven, CT. The Tampa episode will follow immediately after. On Wednesday May 25, an hour long show consisting of clips of the new season and eating challenge videos will air. Randy Santel received notice that his videos will not be used in the program.

The facebook for Skipper's Smokehouse announces that it will appear on the debut episode of Man vs. Food: Nation on June 1 along with other Tampa restaurants.
Hunt Strong has a blog entry about Man vs. Food: Nation recording at Rapscallions in Land O Lakes, Florida on Friday. On of the diners attempting the challenge was professional wrestler Jerry Sags, half of The Nasty Boys tag team.
The facebook for Skipper's Smokehouse reports that Man vs. Food recorded at that Tampa restaurant on Thursday and that the fourth season of that series will premier on June 1.
