KARE 11 had a promo contest (starts at 2:30 mark) for Sunday's Nathan's qualifier in St. Paul, MN. No expected competitors for that event were mentioned besides promo contest participant Nicholas Johnson.

The Des Moines Register has an article about Molly Schuyler’s attempt to become a four time finisher of the Adam Emmenecker sandwich challenge at Jethro’s BBQ. This afternoon she finished the challenge in Waukee, IA, but did not break the all-time record. Tonight, Molly will attempt the 36 inch challenge at Randy’s Pizza in Oakdale, MN with Eric Dahl and on Friday she will attempt the Adam Emmenecker at Jethro’s Altoona, Iowa location. The challenge will appear on an ABC5 News segment later today.

update Jan 17 Eric & Molly finished the 36 inch pizza as time expired. They complete the challenge at the 37 minute mark of the uStream video.

The Nathan’s qualifier held at Grand Old Day has been over for at least a half an hour, but no one has bothered to post any results.

Rich Shea hints that there might be a Nathan's qualifier in Minnesota's 2nd most populous city (St. Paul) in 2012. A Minneapolis/St. Paul area Nathan's qualifier was held from 2005-2009. The new poll asks what city that previously held a qualifier (but was not on the 2011 circuit) would you most like to see regain a qualifier.

Eric Dahl was prohibited from competing in a qualifier for a wing eating contest at Champps due to prior competitive eating experience. Mark "Wimpy" Pederson, who has a facebook page about his eating contests, was allowed to compete and took third place in the finals. (Dale, last name not given, won the finals)
