Joe Menchetti appears to have won the first prize of a three year Smart Car lease at today's Dog e Style hot dog eating contest in Buffalo. The contest was billed a an event for local amateurs.
The Buffalo News website has republished an article about an hot dog contest in its January 22, 1975 issue. Tony Domagala ate 18 hot dogs in 20 minutes to win the $200 first prize.

A press release announces that Molly Schuyler and Dave Brunelli are expected to compete in the HandsFree Pumpkin Pie Eating Championship at the Great Pumpkin Farm in Clarence, NY on September 28. Last year's contest was the site of the only defeat of Molly Schuyler's competitive eating career.

update Sept 2 The festival facebook has a larger picture of Joey holding the results sheet which appears to list Joey Chestnut’s weight as 6.02 pounds. This is well below the his winning total of 7.61 pounds two years ago which would make Sunday’s contest a non-record.
