Don Lerman wins Zan’s latkes

CompetitiveEaters.com reports that Don “Moses” Lerman won the latke eating contest at Zan’s Deli today. Paul “Pork Slap” Arcaria was second. According to the eatfeats database, this is Lerman’s first win in a sanctioned contest since the August 2004 Nathan’s qualifier in Saratoga Springs, NY.

According to ffidler's twitter the latke eating contest (purse $790) to be held during the Long Island Chanukah Telethon Sunday night is still accepting entrants.
Applications are now being accepted from amateurs for the "Clash of the Clucks" wing eating contest. The first round will take place at 25 Long Island sites from January 29 to January 31.
It appears there will be two Long Island latke eating contests on December 13: one competition will be held at Zan's Deli in Lake Grove, the other will take place in conjunction with the Chabad of Mineola's Chanukah Telethon.
The NYPost reports that the Chabad of Mineola (Long Island) will hold a kosher latke eating contest with a purse of $790 ($360 first prize) on December 13 as part of its Chanukah Telethon.

Furious Pete wins Zan’s Deli latkes

Newsday reports that “Furious” Pete Czerwinski won the National Potato Latke Eating Championship held at Zan’s Deli. Czerwinski’s total of 46 latkes in 8 minutes broke “Goose” Gilbert’s previous record of 31 latkes. Will Millender came in second with 29 latkes. A caption in the picture gallery reports that “King” George Van Laar came in third with 26 latkes in what may be his farewell performance.
