The field for Niko Niko gyro's eating contest in Houston on May 18 has been announced: Part 1 | Part 2. Joey Chestnut, Matt Stonie and Miki Sudo are the top 4 eaters expected.  
Miki Sudo is not expected to defend her title at Saturday's Nathan's qualifier in Las Vegas. She is listed as an entrant in the Houston qualifier May 3. update April 22 The Houston Chronicle column does not appear to be accurate; it claims the qualifier is Saturday and not May 3 and the contest does not appear on Miki Sudo's calendar.

In the latest episode of Welcome to Sweetie Pie's, a program on the Oprah Winfrey Network, "The Beast", a 6 pound burger challenge at The Backyard Grill in Houston, TX, was attempted. Nicole Doty was the only person who has previously completed the challenge.
Registration will open at noon Central today for the Niki Niko World Gyro Eating Championship in Houston on May 18.
