Amarillo high school tortilla eating contest results in school board meeting
Amarillo.com reports that a tortilla eating contest held at a Amarillo High School pep rally has resulted in a meeting of the Amarillo Independent School District Board of Trustees:
Last week, there was a “fiesta-themed†pep rally at Amarillo High School prior to its football game against Caprock High School, a school with a predominantly Hispanic student body. The rally caused a stir on social media.
At the pep rally there was a tortilla-eating contest, and later that night things escalated on social media, where initial claims were made that students were throwing tortillas at the pep rally as well as at the football game.
It was later determined that no tortillas were actually thrown.
Documentarian Morgan Spurlock (Supersize Me) MCed a rat eating contest at the Fantastic Fest film festival in Austin yesterday to promote his new movie, Rats.

Vancouver.craigslist.ca has a request for Canadian competitive eaters to compete in the qualifier for Battle of the Big Eaters 4 in Vancouver in September. The selected competitors will face teams from Japan, the USA and another country later in the fall in Dallas. Entrants appearing in the qualifier will receive $200 and those that compete in Dallas will get an additional $500.
Pluckers will hold a Wing Bowl at its Greenville Avenue location in Dallas on June 2 awarding $1000 to the winner. Entrants will need to qualify.
