Naples News reports that the Florida State Chicken Wing Eating Contest will take place at Buffalo Chips in Bonita Springs, Florida on Saturday, but the restaurant's web site reports the contest was on December 12. Chip Simpson won last year's contest, the article says he has not decided if he will defend his title.

VH1.com has a clip from the reality show For the Love of Ray J 2 of a chili dog eating eating contest held at Pink's Hot Dogs in Los Angeles. (I wonder if the restaurant would have granted filming permission if they knew several of the competitors would vomit.)

Barry Rigby wins Wigan (UK) pie contest

SkyNews reports that Barry Rigby ate a meat pie in 43 seconds to win the annual pie eating contest at Harry’s Bar in Wigan, England today.

The Wigan pie contest is probably the best publicized English contest. This year’s gimmick of checking for performance enhancing substances was noted by the BBC. (Gravy is listed as a performance enhancing substance). Pitch Weekly also had a blog entry about the contest (from Liz K)

Another Connecticut pizza challenge is available at Bang Bang Pizza in Norwalk. According to the restaurant’s facebook page, no one has finished the 22 inch pizza in the 30 minute limit and the only person to complete the pizza after the time expired is the woman pictured below:

Wing Bowl 18 tickets on sale 9am Tuesday

PhillyBurbs reports that tickets for Wing Bowl 18 can be purchased at ComcastTix.com starting Tuesday at 9 am.

In other Wing Bowl news, Adam “The Hungry Hungry Hebrew” qualified for Wing Bowl 18 by eating 30 latkes in 10 minutes.

Ivy Bakery cupcake contest videos

Videos from last April’s cupcake eating contest at the Ivy Bakery in Brooklyn are now available on youtube: Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3. A radio station interview with winner Nancy Cummings has also been uploaded. (Jo “Gavonne” Rose was another competitor in that contest).

The Ivy Bakery’s youtube page reports that its 2010 cupcake eating contest will take place on April 24.

Don Lerman wins Zan’s latkes

CompetitiveEaters.com reports that Don “Moses” Lerman won the latke eating contest at Zan’s Deli today. Paul “Pork Slap” Arcaria was second. According to the eatfeats database, this is Lerman’s first win in a sanctioned contest since the August 2004 Nathan’s qualifier in Saratoga Springs, NY.

The blog for Wiener and Still Champion reports that Qumar Zaman will attempt to set a 3 pound burger record today in Evanston, Illinois after halving the 2 lb record. Update The restaurant twitter reports Zaman finished the burger in a record 28 minutes.

Shoudt, Janus, Conti in PB & Banana sandwiches

A press release (pdf format) announces that Bob Shoudt, Tim Janus and Crazy Legs Conti are expected to compete in the Peanut Butter & Banana sandwich contest at Isle Casino in Biloxi, Mississippi on January 9. The press release also says that additional IFOCE contests will take place at Isle of Capri casinos in Davenport and Bettendorf, Iowa, Boonville, Missouri., and Black
Hawk, Colorado.

The Los Angeles International Tamale festival scheduled for December 13 has been cancelled due to the economy. A tamale eating contest was planned at that event.
