Coney Island temperature increase from 1 pm to 4 pm
Both The Brooklyn Paper and the New York Post wrote articles about the time shift of the Nathan’s finals three hours later and the possibility for hotter weather during the competition. To determine the average increase in temperature, the following table lists the 12:51 pm and 3:51 pm temperatures for JFK Airport for the past ten July 4s using data from Wunderground.com.

Joey Chestnut vs. Pat Bertoletti head to head results since 2009
Pat Bertoletti’s victory at the Dorney Park cheesesteak contest yesterday is the first time he has finished ahead of Joey Chestnut since the Wingstop contest held in Dallas in April 2011. Pat’s previous finishes ahead of Joey Chestnut before then came at the Mars bar eating contest in San Diego in July 2010 and the September 2009 Reno rib contest.
