CBC reports a customer at Ship & Anchor Pub in Calgary was hospitalized tonight and is currently in a life threatening condition. He reportedly choked while competing in an Oktoberfest hot dog eating contest, but that has yet to be confirmed. (Pub statement about incident)
The Ranch Roadhouse in Edmonton will hold a pyrohy (dumpling) eating contest on January 20 awarding $1000 to the winner in honor of Ukrainian New Year's Eve.
Kijiji.ca has a request for a female competitive eater to record a video in Edmonton, AB. The winner will receive $500.
Shamrock Burgers will hold a burger eating contest on February 7 in Leduc, AB and another contest in Ajax, ON on February 28. Both contests will award $350 ($200 to the winnner).

The Sugar Shack Candy Store in Vulcan, Alberta will hold a hot dog eating contest on March 30 awarding $600 ($300 to the winner).
In "Furious" Pete Czerwinski's most recent video he has an eating contest with IFBB fitness pro Jody Boam at the Mongolian Grill after they had an upper body training session. Robert Firlotte reports that Aaron Osthoff won the men’s division of today’s Nathan’s qualifier in Calgary with 33 hot dogs. Aaron’s wife Heather appears to have won the women’s division according to this picture. update Heather ate 12 hot dogs as did the Canadian female champion Nicole. The male Canadian champion was Gino with 16 hot dogs.
