MLE announces three upcoming contests to be held in Las Vegas in conjunction with Draft Kings: a candy eating contest on October 31, a whole turkey eating contest on Thanksgiving weekend and a Big Game party spread on February 6. update Joey Chestnut, Geoff Esper, Matt Stonie, Miki Sudo, Nick Wehry and Darron Breeden are expected to compete.
The British Eating League announced that it will start a Las Vegas Eating League in 2021.
Raina Huang, Derek Hendrickson and Blaine Koenig will compete in a hot eating contest at Dirt Dog in Las Vegas on August 29.
"Battle of the Buffets" a 2003 event recorded in Las Vegas televised on the Travel Channel has been uploaded to youtube. Competitors include Eric "Badlands" Booker, Rich and Carlene LeFevre and Ed "Cookie" Jarvis.
Slice of Vegas reports that Joey Chestnut completed its 9 pound Double Down pizza challenge. According to Derek Hendrickson's Instagram, he also drank two pitcher of Coors Light during the meal.
Heart Attack Grill in Las Vegas, notorious for its "octuple bypass" burger challenge and its practice of spanking customers, announces it will not comply with a voluntary shutdown request and will continue serving customers in-house.
MGM Resorts announced that it will suspend operations for its Las Vegas properties starting Tuesday. The sites include the New York New York Hotel Casino, which has a Nathan's qualifier scheduled for April 4. update The venue's twitter confirmed the shutdown.
Registration will open tomorrow for the first 2020 Nathan's Famous qualifier to be held April 4 at New York New York in Las Vegas. A qualifier has been held at that location every year since at least 2003. Michelle "Cardboard Shell" Lesco has won the past five women's divisions of the competition; Max Suzuki has a two year streak for the men.

Takeru Kobyashi attempted the challenge at Pho 87 in Las Vegas on Tuesday's episode of the Japanese television program SixTONES. (Kobayashi segments start at 1:25 and 1:34). This might be his first eating challenge or contest on Japanese TV since the 2002 Food Battle Club.

Tom Gilbert is expected to be the primary threat to Max Suzuki. This will be his first MLE contest since the 2013 Las Vegas Nathan’s qualifer. His total of 31 was the highest non-winning total on the 2012-13 circuit, but he did not receive the wild card spot in the finals which went to Erik Denmark.
Rich Lefevre appeared on 8 News Now to promote Saturday's Nathan's qualifier at the NYNY Hotel & Casino. The hosts did not seemm to be aware that he had already qualified for the finals. (facebook video).
