The Travel Channel announces that filming will start this week for a new series of Man v Food that will debut in August. Actor and restaurant business veteran Casey Webb will replace Adam Richman as the host. In 2011, John Lomascolo won the Man v Food Nation Casting Call contest that was to have awarded him with an appearance in an Albany area episode that was not recorded before the series was canceled. The first of four qualifiers for the Hudson Valley Taco Fest will take place at the Tilted Kilt in Poughkeepsie, NY tonight. Qualifier winners will win $100 and a spot in the finals on June 10 in Montgomery, NY awarding $1500 in cash & prizes.
The Roadhouse Diner in Great Falls, MT produced a song in the style of 1980s metal to promote its burger eating contest on June 10 awarding $300 to the winner and $200 to the runner up. There will also be a women-only contest awarding $100.
The Preakness Baloon Festival will hold a meatball eating contest on May 19 in West Friendship, MD awarding $200, a $100 Gianni's Restaurant gift card, 2 night stay at the Elk Forge B&B in Elkton, MD and more to the winner.
Poker Pro Mike Noori will try to eat $1000 of food from an Arizona McDonald's over a 36 hour period from May 19 to 21. Reportedly $200,000 has been bet on the attempt. The following rules have been established: no blenders or reversals and only $200 can be spent on salads and nothing on drinks. Noori plans to start by eating $500 worth of apple slices.
