Eater X, injured Joey Chestnut at weigh in
The Nathan’s weigh in was held today. Joey Chestnut was in crutches. He made a instagram post on December 29 about a leg injury requiring surgery. Tim “Eater X” Janus was present; it was not clear if he will be a competitor. His last eating contest was in October 2015.
update The official field is now out. There are no major surprises. Beard Meats Food will compete and Tim Janus will not make a comeback. Instead of doing a blog entry for each article about the competitors. I will have links to all the coverage of the confirmed entrants below

The official field for the 2022 Nathan’s Famous hot dog eating contest has yet to be released. Last year, the entrant list was not announced until July 4. Here is how the roster could shape up:

When the contest was originally fannounced, the field sizes were given as 16 men and 12 women.
The MLE twitter has posted the field for Saturday's Nathan's Famous hot dog eating qualifier at the Giant National Capital BBQ Battle in Washington, DC. Pat Bertolett will return to Nathan's after an almost 10 year absence. Other listed entrants include Ronnie Hartman, Derek Jacobs, Jim Reeves, Darrien Thomas, Crazy Legs Conti, Prudence Di Benedetto and Rene Rovtar.
The following people have announced on twitter that they will compete in Saturday's Nathan's qualifier at the Giant National Capital BBQ Battle in Washington, DC: George Chiger, Crazy Legs Conti, Prudence DiBenedetto, Jules Goldberg, Ronnie Hartman, Mike Whities.
A press release says that Geoff Esper and Nick Wehry are expected to compete in the 2022 Nathan's hot dog eating contest, so presumably they will receive byes without needing to qualify.
Ryan "Max Carnage" Rodacker has posted some of the competitors in Friday's Salvation Army donut eating contest on the USS Midway in San Diego which includes himself, Miki Sudo, Michelle Lesco, Derek Hendrickson, Sergio Reyes Raya and Alex Perez.
