AICE rankings have been updated. The most significant change is that “Gentleman” Joe Menchetti is no longer listed. He was #4 in the previous rankings.

Joe Menchetti repeats as “Big A” Challenge champion
A comment to a reflector.com article reports that Joe Menchetti repeated as winner of the “Big A” challenge contest held during last night’s UNC vs. East Carolina baseball game. Menchetti’s time to complete the 50 ounce burger was under 5 minutes, less than his winning time last year of 5:15. The attendance for the game was 5,581, reportedly the largest crowd to ever watch a regular season college baseball game in North Carolina.
2009 Andy’s “Big A” Challenge finals April 22
The Wilson Times reports that this year’s 50 ounce “Big A” burger contest will take place on April 22 before the East Carolina / UNC baseball game in Greenville, NC. The contest will match the 10 fastest “Big A” finishers and qualifying closed at the end of March. Apparently there were only three days between the contest announcement and the close of qualifying.
NewsObserver.com reports that Joe Menchetti will defend his title from 2008. Contest organizers would like to offer runner-up Joshua “Jabber Jaws” Currier a slot if they can get in touch with him.

Eligibility questions for GJoe at Bartolini’s meatball contest?
- The meatball contest sponsored by Bartolini’s restaurant has the following eligibility restriction (See May 2):
Eaters competing in IFOCE-MLE sanctioned Food drinking contests within the past 12 months will not be eligible to participate in this event. Food Drinkers attempting to enter the Meatball qualifiers at Bartolini’s or fraudulently qualifying for the American Meatball Eating Championship will be immediately disqualified and forfeit any prize money.
- Joe Menchetti is listed as one of the three eaters who will receive byes to that contest on Bartolini’s website.
- The Krystal Square Off website reports that Joe Menchetti competed in a pre-qualifier in Nashville last September.

AICE news reports that Joe Menchetti won $5000 at a wing eating contest in at the Wing Shack in Whitby Ontario sponsored by the Rock FM
The contest entry form, which had the country field fixed at “Canada”, implied that only Canadian citizens could compete in that event.

GJoe wins “one for the thumb” in paczkis
If the paczki eating contest held at Eddy’s Bake Shop in Ansonia, Connecticut awarded a ring to the victor, “Gentleman” Joe Menchetti would now be able to adorn each finger on one hand.
