The Canadian Brewhouse will hold a smoked meat eating contest in Edmonton on June 22 awarding $500 and a trip to Montreal. Qualifiers will take place at Edmonton-area locations on Fridays.
The Burger's Priest in Toronto will hold an eating contest on July 28 awarding a 4 night stay at the Hacienda Cerritos Resort in Mexico. Video submissions are suggested for competitors.

Robert Firlotte reports that Aaron Osthoff won the men’s division of today’s Nathan’s qualifier in Calgary with 33 hot dogs. Aaron’s wife Heather appears to have won the women’s division according to this picture. update Heather ate 12 hot dogs as did the Canadian female champion Nicole. The male Canadian champion was Gino with 16 hot dogs.

An eating contest will be held at the Easter Sunday Brunch at the Regina Inn in Saskatchewan on April 8. All competitors will be weighed before the contest and prizes will be awarded to the male and female who gain the most weight after the brunch. Bodybuilder Dorian Yates will speak at the brunch (it is not clear if he will participate in the contest).

K97 in Edmonton is holding a pancake eating contest this morning inspired by an injury experienced while Dustin Penner of the Los Angeles Kings ate pancakes. The contest awards tickets to an Edmonton Oilers vs. Los Angeles Kings game and entrants had to submit a story of an eating-related injury to gain a spot.
Meredith "Deep Fried Diva" Boxberger announces that she ate a 72 ounce steak dinner at Lonestar in 29 minutes. This might be a women's record for a 72 ounce steak meal. Carlene LeFevere set the women's record of 30 minutes at the Big Texan steak house in a Ripley's Believe it or Not program from 2000 and there appear to be no faster times next to female names in the finishers list since then. (Johanna Hickey appears to be the runner up with 32:40 in 2005).
