On twitter, Juan “More Bite” Rodriguez accuses Erik “The Red Denmark” of “Pocket Dog Gate”. While Carmen Cincotti’s video shows Erik Denmark inserting his hand in his pocket immediately following the Nathan’s Washington, DC qualifier (around the 14:20 mark), it is not 100% clear if he had a hot dog in his hand. Denmark was credited with 32 hot dogs for the contest, which edged out Steve Hendry by one hot dog for the wild card.

The field has been announced for the chili eating contest at Taste of DC on October 10: Joey Chestnut, Tim Janus, Sonya Thomas, Juliet Lee, Yasir Salem, Gideon Oji, Badlands Booker, Brian Dudzinski, Bill Myers, Mary Bowers and Eric Livingston. This will be Tim Janus' first contest outside NYC since May 2014. The contest is also accepting entries from military members.
Registration will open Monday on majorleagueeating.com for a new bratwurst eating contest in Tulsa on October 24 and a turkey eating contest ($10K purse) at the Mohegan Sun in Connecticut on November 21. Registration is now open for the chili eating contest at Taste of DC on October 10.

The Georgetown Safeway in Washington, DC will hold a chicken wing eating contest awarding $400 in cash and $475 in Safeway cards on July 29. The winner will receive $250 cash and a $250 Safeway card.
