A team consisting of Jay Gorman,Michael Longo, Ian Hickman and Scott Phillips will be competing in BGR's 9 pound burger eating contest at Taste of DC on October 13.
Ben's Chili Bowl will hold a chili eating contest for military members awarding $850 ($500 to the winner) before the MLE contest at Taste of DC on October 12. Tim Janus is listed as an expected entrant in the professional contest on October 13.
The Star and Shamrock in Washington, DC will hold a matzo ball eating contest on Tuesday awarding a trip to NYC for a tour of the new Schmaltz brewery.

Z Burger will hold its 5th annual eating contest at its Tenleytown location in Washington, DC on July 3. The contest will award $3000 in cash ($1250 to the winner) and $3000 in gift certificates ($1250 to the winner).
In September, the date of the finals for BGR's slider eating contest was announced as May 28, 2013 in Washington, DC. That competition did not take place yesterday. (The site of the Tampa qualifier closed in October.)
CNNMoney has an article about the "24" menu available at Texas Rangers games which includes supersized hot dogs, burgers, pretzels, sausages and quesadillas.
