McFadden's in Washington, DC will hold a fried pickle eating contest as part of Jersey Shore theme party on February 16. "The Unit" from MTV's Jersey Shore will attend the party.
The finals of the 2012 Washington, DC area Wing Bowl will take place on March 1 and award $2,500. Qualifiers will be held at Hard Times Cafes throughout February starting in Springfield, VA on Thursday.

The contest is expected to start at 12:35 eastern. Joey Chestnut, Sonya Thomas, Bob Shoudt, Juliet Lee, Micah Collins, Crazy Legs Conti, Brian Subich, Maria “Edible”, Brian Dudzinski, Bill Myers, Brian Seiken, Andrew Kossuth, Tim Connelley (amateur) and Andrew Petrick (amateur) are expected to compete.

I think this will be the first IFOCE non-qualifier contest on the east coast between Palm Beach and Atlantic City since the funnel cake eating contest at Kings Dominion in Virginia in May 2009.

In a Washingtonian interview, Sonya Thomas said that she thinks it will take 15 pounds or more to win Sunday's chili eating contest at A Taste of DC. She also said that she has no plans to retire. update WMAL has a radio interview of Sonya Thomas about the chili contest.

Registration will open tomorrow at 11 am on IFOCE.com for the World Chili Eating Championship to be held at the Taste of DC Festival on October 9. A qualifier for amateurs will take place on October 8.
Jay Gorman won a wing eating contest held in Washington, DC this evening (Mike Longo was the runner-up) (contest video) and Will Millender won a wing eating contest held in Brooklyn.
The Capitol Lounge in Washington, DC will hold a wing eating contest on Tuesday awarding a prize package with a reported value of $600.

WTOP reports that Dale Boone and “Furious” Pete Czerwinski almost came to blows at a contest held at Z-Burger in Washington, DC today after Czerwinksi accused Boone of cheating. Czerwinski defeated Boone in overtime.

Z-Burger has placed a craigslist request for Z-Girls who will welcome guests and keep track of the numbers of burgers eaten at the July 1 burger eating contest in Washington, DC. The "Burgerettes" will receive $45 and a free lunch.
ZBurger.net announces two upcoming burger eating contests. A June 30 contest in Nottingham, MD will award $2050 in cash and $950 in Z-Burger tokens and a July 1 contest in Washington, DC will award $3400 in cash and $2150 in Z-Burger tokens.
