Records in danger in tomorrow’s Las Vegas qualifier?
Matt Stonie has posted a video of a training session where he ate 59 hot dogs. If he can match that in tomorrow’s Nathan’s qualifier in Vegas, he would have a chance at breaking the all time qualifier of 59.5 hot dogs (in 12 minutes) set by Joey Chestnut in 2007. The high temperature tomorrow is predicted to be 73 with a chance of rain, which should facilitate high numbers.

The Daily Sparks Tribune has an article about Molly Schuyler finishing the Super Mondo challenge (intended for two customers) at Pizza Plus in Sparks, NV without assistance. The reporter did not plan to write a story about the challenge; he just happened to be in the pizzeria while Molly stopped on her trip home from Iowa.
"El Toro" ate 7 waffles in 3 minutes to win Monday's eating contest at Tiabi in Las Vegas.

The LA Times did a post in 2006 about "All You Can Eat", a competitive eating screenplay by Josh Heald, writer of Hot Tub Time Machine 2, (The project appears to have been tabled; it no longer appears on Heald's IMDB page). To research the script, Heald competed in the 2006 Nathan's Las Vegas qualifier where Joey Chestnut became the first American to hit 50 hot dogs. (The post claims that a competitor at that event fainted and needed to be removed by stretcher, which is the first I had heard about that incident.)
