RIP Scott Bickel 1990-2012
(via emails) Some extremely sad news happened last night. Scott Bickel posted a suicide note on his facebook page last night and he carried through with it by jumping into the Cuyahoga River (link fixed).

Frank and Tony's Place in Willoughby, Ohio will hold wing eating contests on January 21 awarding TVs and cash. A qualifier will take place on December 27.
Patch.com has an article about the Cleveland Pizza Challenge. Qualifying is underway for the finals that will take place on October 10. The winner will receive an Ohio State VIP weekend, a year's supply of Coca-Cola and a championship bracelet.
Cleveland.com reports that Glutton Bowl competitor David "Moe Ribs" Molesky passed away at the age of 57. (via Don Lerman) update Molesky was the runner up to Don Lerman in the butter eating contest at the Glutton Bowl.
"Tiny" Tim Rauscheder won a contest at The Happy Dog in Cleveland by eating 27 hot dogs in 10 minutes (the contest ran out of hot dogs) and Randy Santel won a competition held at Up Dog in Independence, Missouri by eating 21 hot dogs in 10 minutes.

Scott Bickel appeared on Fox 8 News this morning to promote tomorrow’s Nathan’s qualifier in Cleveland. (A video of his appearance does not seem to be available.)
