Registration for the burger eating contest to be held August 19 at The National Hamburger Festival in Akron, OH will open Thursday on ifoce.com. The purse for the contest will be $1500 and an August 18 non-MLE eating contest is listed on the contest website.

2012 Rock the Tot June 7

Bar Louie’s Rock the Tot has been moved from April to June. All Bar Louie locations will hold tater tot eating contests for individuals and four person relay teams on June 7. The individual winners with the five best times will receive a trip to Cleveland for the finals on June 24.

update The top 5 winning times for 2010 Rock the Tot are after the jump (2011 winners were never announced) Competitors who want to reach the finals will probably need to eat at least 4 pounds in 6 minutes.

“Strasburger” debuts at Nationals home opener

The “Strasburger” made its debut at yesterday’s Washington Nationals home opener (it will not be available at all home games). The 8 pound burger named in honor of pitcher Stephen Strasburg weighs 8 pounds, costs $59 and has 8,000 to 10,000 calories. The second Strasburger ever purchased was reportedly finished by a two person team. (There are no listed prizes or official recognition for a sole finisher.)
