Official results for this morning’s Wonderful Pistachios Get Crackin’ Eating Championship held at the Santa Monica Pier. Joey Chestnut’s 7th place finish is his worst placing since a first round loss in the 2005 US Open of Competitive Eating, a 32 person tournament.

Registration will open later today for the Wonderful Pistachios Get Crackin' Eating Championship to be held in Santa Monica on February 26. A press release lists Joey Chestnut, Geoff Esper, Miki Sudo, Nick Wehry and Gideon Oji as expected entrants. This probably implies that Joey Chestnut has extended his MLE contract and dropped plans for a rematch with Takeru Kobayashi.

ESPN has a press release about its telecast of the 2022 Nathan's Famous hot dog eating contest. The men's contest will be live on ESPNews while the women's contest will be streamed on ESPN3 while ESPNews shows Sportscenter. (The two main ESPN channels will be showing Wimbledon.) John Anderson will replace Mike Golic Jr. as Rich Shea's broadcast partner.

Registration will open June 1 at noon eastern for Nathan's qualifiers at the Giant National Capital BBQ Battle in Washington, DC on June 25 and the Alameda County Fair in Pleasanton, CA on June 18. Both competitions will award spots in the July 4 contest to the top three male and female finishers.
