update The facebook post has been removed without explanation. It is still on the DiningOutSD twitter. Commenters in a yelp thread say there will be no recording Tuesday.
update #2 An email was sent out to members of Phil’s mailing list and the event is mentioned in another yelp post. It is not clear if members of the general public will be allowed to attend.

Jose’s flauta registration opens Monday
IFOCE.com announces registration for the flauta eating contest at Jose’s in La Jolla, California will open Monday. Slots will also be given to qualifier winners. The next qualifier will take place tomorrow and a promo contest will be held tomorrow at 9:30 on XETV.
IFOCE.com also announces an unnamed Mid-Atlantic contest on November 14. (This might be the Roy Rogers roast beef slider eating contest (called a “monster event”)

Justin Wu wins San Diego musubi contest
A news video of yesterday’s musubi eating qualifier in San Diego reports that Justin Wu won a trip to Hawaii by eating 8.5 musubis in 5 minutes. Brian Bruggeman was the runner-up.
