Dale Boone's platform is "lower taxes, reduce traffic congestion and protect our community by addressing the crime that is afflicting Brookhaven”.

No female winner has been announced as of 5:20 pm eastern. Dee Martin was present, so presumably she was the victor. At least one other woman competed, so there will be a women’s wild card leader (if the female runner-up total was recorded).

Steve "Pi Guy" Martin and Damien Boykin appeared on Fox 5 Atlanta this morning to promote Sunday's qualifier at the Atlanta Dogwood Festival. Ronnie Hartman and Crazy Legs Conti are also expected to compete.
Former Clayton State University basketball player will compete in the Nathan's qualifier at the Dogwood Festival in Atlanta on April 12. Ronnie Hartman will also participate.

THe Douglas County Sentinel has an article about Steve "Pi Guy" Martin, who says he is 99% sure he will continue with competitive eating despite being dropped from the most recent IFOCE top 50.
Rich Shea announces the 2013 Nathan's Boston qualifier will be held in conjunction with a Phantom Gourmet event (April 23, May 18 or June 21-23) and hints the entire circuit will be released next week. Possible sites that were not on the 2012 circuit include Atlanta and St. Louis. update The Calgary qualifier will take place on June 8.
WSBTV has an article and gallery about Dale Boone's victory in a Krispy Kreme donut eating contest held at the Republic Social House in Atlanta Saturday which claims that Boone has competed in the Nathan's finals seven times.

2012-13 college football bowl eating contests

Several college football bowls held eating contests as part of their pre-game activities:

  • Rose Bowl (Pasadena, CA) Wisconsin defended their Lawry’s Beef Bowl title by eating a total of 619 pounds of prime rib to defeat Stanford by 17 pounds. Joshua Garnett and Dallas Lewallen of Wisconsin were reportedly the individual winners with 7 24-ounce steaks eaten.
  • Chick-fil-A Bowl (Atlanta) LSU outate Clemson at Sal Grosso’s Brazillian Steakhouse by 624 pounds to 454
  • Music City Bowl (Nashville) NC State outate Vanderbilt by 19 ribs. NC State’s Rogers Clark ate 21 ribs in 2 minutes to win the individual contest.
  • Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl (Tempe, AZ) Michigan State ate an average of 33 wings per player to defeat TCU by a margin of 13. MSU’s Shawn Kamm was the individual winner with 65 wings.
  • Outback Bowl (Tampa) Ashton Tate of South Carolina ate 8 mini key lime pies to defeat Michigan’s Ben Braden by 3 pies.

Reporter Newspapers has an interview with Dale Boone, who says his adopted hometown of Brookhaven, GA needs an eating contest with a signature food. Boone considers himself one of three "last of the Mohicans" from the early 2000s competitive eating scene.

A qualifier for the National Cheeseburger Slider Eating Championship will be held today at BGR in Tampa (female bodybuilder Emery Miller will apparently compete). The date was originally announced as September 28. Additional qualifiers awarding $500 and a trip to the championship in May 2013 will be held tomorrow in Bethesda, MD, Coral Gables, FL, Atlanta and possibly Point Loma, CA.
