Pat Bertoletti has set up a page at firstgiving.com to raise money for the Greater Chicago Food Depository. Pat will match all donations received up to $500 and will award a T-shirt signed by all 2011 Nathan's finalists to the biggest giver.
McFadden's in Chicago will hold a wing eating contest tonight awarding $250 to the winner.

Center Square Journal reports that Maurice "El Oso" Nores won an amateur rib eating contest and will receive a slot in Friday's professional rib eating contest at the Chicago Ribfest. Tim "Gravy" Brown and Benjamin "The Wolf" Taylor served as judges.

A press release announces Bartolini's meatball eating contest on July 17 in Midlotian, IL (south Chicago area). The professional contest will award $3,950 in cash ($2,000 to the winner) and the amateur division will award $1075 in Bartolini's gift cards. Entrants will qualify for the contest by eating 12 meatballs. This year's contest will be sanctioned by the Bartolini brothers.
Journal Online reports that a Nathan's Famous will open in Arlington Heights, IL (northwest Chicago suburbs) so maybe there will be a Nathan's qualifier in the Central Time Zone north of the Texas-Oklahoma border in 2012.
The Chicago Ribfest will hold an amateur rib eating contest on June 9. The winner will get to compete in the IFOCE contest the following day.

- Chicago Steve “Freight Train” Moss won the downtown Chicago Maki Madness and a woman “La Panda” reached the final four in one Chicago contest.
