According to the official contest roster, five female qualifier winners are not competing in Coney Island today: Miki Sudo, Molly Schuyler, Dee Martin, Christina Ginn and Terri Reeves.
The Rake & Herald has an interview with Miki Sudo, the top female performer on the 2013 qualifier circuit (40 hot dogs) conducted before she withdrew from the finals. In another Rake & Herald article, Rich Shea declined to provide any new information about the withdrawal (but he does say that Miki Sudo will compete in the Hooters wing finals later this month)
Documentarian Vic Losick wrote a letter to the New York Times calling for Mayor Bloomberg to ignore the Nathan's finals.

Andrew Kossuth reports that Prudence from NY was the female winner with a total of 6. (She was not the sole female competing)
Tim “Eater X” Janus won the contest with 50 hot dogs. This is the highest qualifier total of 2013.
This might be the female winner / possible sole participant.
The qualifier to be held before today’s New York Mets game vs. the Washington Nationals has received minimal publicity; it does not appear to even be mentioned on http://newyork.mets.mlb.com/The game time is 1:10 so the qualifier will have an early start.
Andrew Kossuth is the only expected entrant besides Tim Janus.
A facebook event page lists the competitors for the July 4 hot dog eating contest at the Eventi Hotel that Kobayashi will headline: Wayne Algenio, Dave Brunelli, Johnnie Excel, Dave "US Male" Goldstein, Jamie McDonald & Will Millender. (via email)
Last year's cupcake eating contest held at Coney Island will be televised on the July 1 episode of DC Cupcakes on TLC at 7pm ET/PT. Stephanie Torres ate 71 cupcakes to win the contest.
Joe Menchetti won Helmbold's hot dog eating contest at last night's Tri City Valley Cats game in Troy, NY.
A press release has more information about Takeru Kobayashi's July 4 event where he will attempt to break his personal record of 69 hot dogs and unveil his line of "Kobi Dogs". None of the seven "accalaimed competitive eaters" that will also participate are listed by name. Kobi Dogs will be available for mail order on www.KobiDog.com starting July 4 (that website currently shows a generic Go Daddy page).
The field for the 2013 Go Go Curry finals in Manhattan on July 6 has been set: Dave Brunelli, Joe Menchetti, Wayne Algenio, Andrew Kowitt and Masanori "Max" Yamada.
The Strand Smokehouse in Queens, NY will hold a women-only BBQ eating contest on July 7.
Hotel Chatter Reports that Kobayashi will compete against seven unnamed "acclaimed competitive eaters" at the Eventi Hotel in Manhattan on July 4. He will also unveil his new line of hot dogs called "Kobi Dogs".
The final qualifier for Go Go Curry's contest will take place tomorrow. The current top 5: 1) Dave Brunelli 27s 2) Joe Menchetti: 31s 3) Wayne Algenio 42s 4) Andrew Kowitt 55s 5) Orlando Deluna Mendez 1:35. The finals on July 6 will award $500 and a trip to Japan.
