The Glen Hotel in Eight Mile Plains, QLD, Australia will hold a meat pie eating contest on Australia Day, January 26 awarding $500 to the winner.
TV Tokyo has a page about Battle of the Big Eaters 4 that will be televised on New Years Day with pictures of all 4 competing quartets. Team Canada and Australian pro wrestler Shazza Mackenzie do not appear.
In a pregame event for the 2012 Music City Bowl, Vanderbilt lineman Adam Butler accused members of the NC State Wolfpack of cheating in a rib eating contest. Butler's combative attitude impressed the defensive coaching staff, which led to a position change to the defensive line. Today, those two teams will face off in the Camping World Independence Bowl in Shreveport, LA.

The Hudson Valley Wing Bowl will hold a wing eating contest on January 28 in Poughkeepsie, NY awarding $1047. Qualifiers start on January 7.
DNAInfo reports that a federal grand jury will not bring charges against former Brooklyn District Attorney Joe Hynes for using money from civil forfeiture to pay Mortimer Matz for public relations services after determining that Matz' work was non-political and the expenditure was legal. In the early 1970s, Mortimer Matz founded Nathan's hot dog eating contest with Max Rosey. In May, the that indictments were looming in the case.
Jack Brown's Beer & Burger Joint announces that Chip "Burger" Simpson set a record for its challenge with a total of 18 burgers. He has been minimally active in competitive eating since leaving MLE in 2007 after attaining a Nathan's personal best of 39.5 burgers.
