Takeru Kobayashi has set up a page on FirstGiving to facilitate donations to the Red Cross for Japanese earthquake/tsunami relief (via email).

Major League Eating donated $5,000 to Save the Children and will match donations by competitive eaters up to $5,000.

Tracy Dixon and Danielle Teal of 102.5 the Fox will attempt Glynners 2 Pound Burger Challenge on March 3 if they can raise $500 to support the adoption of a Ukranian boy.
Fox's Pizza in Athens, GA will debut its new 30 pizza challenge at a charity event on February 22. Diners (in teams of six) can attempt the challenge for free and donations will be accepted.

Hope College in Holland, Michigan will hold a chili dog eating contest to raise money for cancer research at the Van Institute at its soccer game against Olivet tomorrow night. The contest objective is to the record for the most chili dogs consumed at a soccer game. (Lynda Kuerth, Guinness hot dog record holder from 1977-88, was an Olivet graduate).
Torontoist has a blog entry about "Furious" Pete Czerwinski's attempt to eat 15 pounds of poutine on the Dean Blundell Show this morning. Pete ate about 10 pounds before receiving assistance. A video of the stunt is also available. Smoke's Poutinerie, which held a MLE poutine contest earlier this year, was the sponsor of the stunt.

The amount raised for charity, $13,880.67, was approximately twice the 2009 amount of just under $7,000, which Pastrami Joe's owner Mike Caron attributes to dropping the division for professional competitive eaters.

Tonic.com reports that a Nathan's finals guest judgeship is an item for sale in an online auction at BiddingForGood.com to benefit the Children's Museum of the Arts. The minimum bid is $340 and the closing date is May 13.

Steakbellie to do “Tough Mudder” for charity

Eric “Steakbellie” Livingston will be participating in the “Tough Mudder” 7 mile obstacle course race on May 2 (the day after he competes in the Dorney Park cheesesteak contest) to raise money for the Wounded Warrior project. He has set up a donation link for the charity on active.com.

21 burritos in 7 days challenge

http://burritochallenge.weebly.com/ documents Jeremy Baier’s attempt to eat no food other than three burritos a day for a week. He has finished 15 of the 21 burritos. The challenge is raising money for Minnesota Children’s Hospitals. (facebook | twitter)

Greg "The Great Moomsi" Maloomian has uploaded a video of the 8 pound sandwich challenge he attempted with a partner at Gus and Paul’s Deli in Springfield, MA. The challenge has raised $1,000 for the Open Pantry Organization.

TheGreatMoomsi.com reports that Greg “The Great Moomsi” Maloomian will attempt “The World’s Biggest Corned Beef Sandwich” at Gus & Paul’s with a partner on January 16. Donations to Open Pantry Community Services are being accepted in conjunction with this challenge attempt.
