Brad Sciullo finishes 20 pound burger at Heat-Wizards game

BGR Burger joint is holding a 20 pound burger eating challenge at tonight’s Miami Heat-Washington Wizards game. The challenger might be Brad Sciullo.

update The burger was finished during the fourth quarter of the game and there was reportedly a lot of debris under the table.

A new official web site for the Wing Bowl has been set up at http://wingbowl.cbslocal.com/events/2010/12/ The calendar page announces that tickets will go on sale on December 14 and that Brad Sciullo will attempt to qualify by eating 3 pounds of calamari in 2 minutes on Monday. Dave “US Male” Goldstein and Brian Subich are scheduled to attempt their stunts on Tuesday. 5 Wing-Off qualifiers are scheduled for January 2011. Wing Bowl founder Al Morganti says the total purse will be over $100,000 and the grand prize will be $20,000 cash.

Herald Standard reports that Brad Sciullo ate five pounds of spaghetti in 4:23 at the Italian Festival in Uniontown, PA, breaking a world record of 4:31. The official IFOCE pasta record is 6.67 pounds in 10 minutes by Cookie Jarvis even though Takeru Kobayashi ate 13 pounds in 14 minutes at the 2005 US Open of Competitive eating.
Pittsburgh Live has a report on the milk chugging contest at the Fayette County Fair where Brad Sciullo drank a gallon of milk in 52.35 seconds.

Herald Standard on Brad Sciullo’s training regimen

The Herald Standard has an article about “Rock the Tot” national champion Brad Sciullo, who will compete in a pizza eating contest reportedly awarding $5,000 at Tony Baloney’s in Atlantic City tomorrow. Brad credits his tater tot victory to his training for a previous pierogi contest and says he has been eating five pounds of pizza a day to prepare for tomorrow’s contest.

Tim "Obi Wing Kenobi" Cain has uploaded a video of his second place finish in at a Rock the Tot contest at a Pittsburgh Bar Louie. Brad "The Lunatic" Sciullo won the contest with by eating 5 pounds and 13 ounces of tater tots, an amount greater than the national winner ate the previous two years.

Brad Sciullo wins Men’s Culinary Classic pierogi contest

A Brief History of Brad Sciullo

Here is a quick recap of the highlights of Brad Sciullo’s competitive eating career for newcomers to this web site:

  • 2007 Competes in 6 IFOCE contests in 2007. Sciullo’s highest finish is runner-up in a Nathan’s qualfier.
  • February 2008 Competes in Wing Bowl 16 and is in second place halfway through the contest (ahead of Pat Bertoletti and behind Joey Chestnut), but is disqualified for “snotting a wing”.
  • March 2008 Announces retirement from competitive eating, no reason provided.
  • July 2008 Competes in a non-IFOCE meatball eating contest in suburban Chicago under the name Eric “The Herald” Durst and finishes in 8th place.
  • August 2008 Returns to IFOCE competition at the Buffalo Wing Festival. While in Buffalo, Sciullo records a video disparaging the victor of the meatball contest, Furious “Pete” Czerwinski, and AICE, the organization which sanctioned the competition.
  • September 2008 Wins the cannoli eating contest at the Festival of San Gennaro in New York City. Footage from the contest appears in an ESPN E:60 segment about the IFOCE in which Sciullo’s passion for competitive eating impresses reporter Jeremy Schaap.

Part 2 of Brad Sciullo on The Colbert Report

The second part of Brad Sciullo’s attempt at the 15+ pound Belly Buster Burger at Denny’s Beer Barrel Pub on last night’s episode of The Colbert Report is now available on the program’s website. The segment closes with Sciullo expressing his desire to eat a live shark and Colbert responding “I think we’re going to need a bigger throat”.

Brad Sciullo & Denny’s Beer Barrel on Oct 1 Colbert Report

The website for the Colbert Report has a video clip from last night’s episode about Brad Sciullo’s attempt at the 20+ pound Belly Bruiser burger at Denny’s Beer Barrel Pub in Clearfield, PA. The second part of Brad Sciullo’s appearance will probably be televised on Monday. Colbert gives Sciullo the “Martin Burger King” nickname. No mention was made of Brad Sciullo’s ejection from the IFOCE.

George Wendt, who has a burger challenge named after his Cheers character, was an in studio guest.

The Herald Standard reports that Brad Sciullo will judge an Italian Stallion sandwich eating contest at the Fayette County (PA) Fairgrounds on Saturday.

BB.com: Brad Sciullo training Big Brian

BeautifulBrian.com’s Bits & Pieces reports that Brad “The Lunatic” Sciullo has been training “Big” Brian Subich, who will compete in Saturday’s Nathan’s qualifier in Charlotte. Brad Sciullo reportedly ate 38 hot dogs in a training session and also completed Tiny’s burger challenge at the Niner Diner which includes 5 pounds of fries. When the UEPa visited the Niner Diner in 2007, the only challenge finisher was an unnamed sub 100 pound woman according to the restaurant’s owner.

Brad Sciullo breaks Denny’s “Ye Olde 96er” record

DennysBeerBarrelPub.com reports that Brad Sciullo broke the record for the “Ye Olde 96er” burger by completing the 11 pound sandwich in 2 hours and 23 minutes. The previous record of 2:54 was set in 2005 by Kate Stelnick and tied later that year by Lori Weiss. Brad’s feat was recorded by the Travel Channel.

Travel Channel to film at Denny’s Beer Barrel Dec 11

The blog for Denny’s Beer Barrel Pub reports that the Travel Channel will be recording at that restaurant on Thursday. The program is not mentioned, but it might be for another episode of Man vs. Food.

The new poll asks if you think Brad Sciullo completed the giant Belly Bruiser burger at Denny’s two months ago. This picture is only documenation of the Belly Bruiser at an intermediate stage of completion I have seen. Kate Stelnick has several pictures documenting her attempt at the Olde 96er burger and Lori Weiss had an eyewitness report for her challenge.
