Competitive eating in worst of 2007 lists
There are two competitive eating themed entries in two recent lists of awards for 2007:
From Japan Times:
Most Unappetizing TV Personality: Gal Sone
She’s the first competitive eating star to parlay her avocation into a livelihood as a tarento, which means on variety shows she has to talk about her skills as a big eater. But testimonials for her favorite brand of toilet paper and explications of her six or seven daily bowel movements are not things we need to hear, especially right after she’s put away 5 kg of curry rice.
From 411Mania’s pro wrestling list:
Worst Promo = PACMAN Jones’s introduction.
Actually, I think I voted the Matt Hardy/MVP Pizza-Eating Contest first, but it didn’t count since it was more of a ‘skit’ than a ‘promo’.
Estimated IFOCE points standings for 2007
Happy New Year. To start 2008, I have compiled an estimation of what the final IFOCE point standings for the previous year would be if they were not discontinued. The following assumptions were made:
- Due to the lack of complete IFOCE results, standings were obtained from competitors’ (most notably “Wild” Bill Myers) reports. Please inform me of any incorrect results.
- Since the breakdown for a 100 point contest was never released, the points for a 50 point contest were basically doubled to obtain a 100 point distribution. The only 100 point contests were the Nathan’s and Krystal finals.
- No points were awarded for any other contest with closed entrance (the Vegas Chowdown & the ramen contest) since no points were awarded for the Wing Bowl or the St. Pat’s Chowdown.
-
50 points were awarded for all other non-qualifier contests, 25 points for qualifiers. There was a 15 point level when IFOCE points were announced, but no contests received that total before points standings were dropped.
The top 10 in points follows:
All other eaters who received points appear after the jump

Paul Barlow’s best dressed eater list out
“Super” Paul “Bonebreaker” Barlow, Jr. has compiled his list of the top 20 top best dressed IFOCE competitiors at the midpoint of 2007. The top 5 in that ranking follows:
1. Crazy Legs Conti – the man does it all…creativity, style, hair, entrances (Coney Island was my favorite), and is nuts to begin with, which may give him an unfair advantage!!
2. Tim Eater X Janus – We are getting so used to his facepaint, it almost cost him here. But, the man’s color-co-ordination on his mug, the Helen Haggerty incident, and his Hartford hollerings keep him in the fashion frontlines!!
3. Super Paul BBBMB- my pictures provide my evidence, and I think I’ve been a good influence on Crazy Legs, Hall Hunt, my daughter (a well-dressed neat eater) and some others who now know how important grooming has become!!
4. Steakbellie- a kilt!! That alone almost put him higher on this list – the tattoos are just gravy.
5. Russ Keeler – It’s not only the tie-dye, but to get your family in on the act, that’s just groovy!!
First IFOCE top 50 of 2007 out
(From the Godfather & Luther & Chip Simpson) The IFOCE rankings have been updated for the first time this year. Joey Chestnut has taken the top spot. Seaver Miller has dropped out completely, and Pat Bruss is ranked despite his competing in several AICE events. I am unaware of any results for about half of the eaters ranked 41-50.
Hall Hunt July Poll out
Hall Hunt has compiled his IFOCE top 25 for July.
New Poll: top 4 IFOCE members
The new poll asks how you would rank the top 4 IFOCE members. All choices have Joey and Kobayashi 1-2 (or vice versa) and Pat #3. If you have an alternate ordering, please list it in the comments.
