b michael and sady doyle have sketched out a competitive eating film called Eating Harvard. Projected actors for the movie include Bill Murray, Robert Downey, Jr., Amy Poehler and Method Man & Redman.
According to a Yelp comment by Matthew M., Larissa was the first person to finish the five pound burger (with five pounds of fries) at Eagle's Deli in Boston on August 30, 2009. She chose not to be publicized because she did not want to be used in the restaurant's advertising. Larissa is also the record holder at Spike's Junkyard Dogs.
Sin bakery in Providence held a contest where commenters guessed how much of a Reilly Burger Challenge (3 lb. burger, 2 lb. fries) at Eagle's Deli in Boston employee Manuela could eat. She ate 4.25 pounds of the 5 pound challenge.
Nancy Chang Restaurant in Worcester, MA will hold a roast pork bun eating contest (date unlisted) awarding $200 to the winner.
BCHeights has an article about the history of Eagle's Deli, home of some of the largest burgers in Boston. The restaurant was closed for renovations for two and a half months after being sold to a new owner in 2008.
NarragansettBeer.com has some pictures from Sunday's hot dog eating contest at Bukowski's Tavern in Cambridge, MA. Someone nicknamed "The Wall" won the contest after eating 23 hot dogs in 12 minutes.

She also has a report on eating 8.5 hot dogs at a Spike's Junkyard Dogs in Boston to win a T-shirt. Registration for the September 1 rib eating contest at the Nugget in Sparks, NV (Reno area) will open today at 4 pm eastern. Registration for the September 25 Upper Crust Pizza contest in Boston and the September 11 burrito eating contest at the New Mexico State Fair will open tomorrow.
