Joey Chestnut has been announced as a competitor in the World Tamale Eating Championship to be held September 29 in Lewisville, TX, joining Tim Janus and Adrian Morgan as entrants ranked in the MLE top 10. (via comment)

Baker Street Pub & Grill in Fort Worth will hold a hot dog eating contest Saturday awarding two Dallas Cowboy tickets.
Burguesa will hold a burger eating contest in three Dallas-area locations Saturday awarding a 37 inch TV.
A press release about the National Peach Fried Pie Eating Champion in Dallas on September 29 lists Eric Dahl, Jamie McDonald and Stephanie Torres as expected entrants.
Registration for the Western Days Festival World Tamale Eating Championship in Lewisville, TX on September 29 will open on ifoce.com at 3 pm Central today.
Hooters will hold a Dallas-area wing eating circuit starting August 16 in Irving, TX. The finals will take place at Brew Fest on September 15.
The Boomstick Express, a vehicle shaped like a giant hot dog, will debut at today's Texas Rangers game to promote the 24 inch "Boomstick" frankfurter.
Kobayashi / Hofmann partnership details
Syracuse.com and DMagazine have articles about Takeru Kobayashi’s press conference this morning where his partnership with Hofmann Hot Dogs was officially announced. Some notes:
- Takeru Kobayashi will own 50% of a new division Hofmann has created to produce a Kobayashi-branded hot dog.
- Hofmann is planning to open a restaurant in Dallas, possibly as soon as September. (Cowboys legend Roger Staubach is another Hofmann part-owner, so that might be the reason for the location.)
- Kobayashi will compete in a hot dog contest against a “ferocious competitor” at the Great New York State Fair on August 25.
Curly's Frozen Custard in Fort Worth, TX will hold a hot dog eating contest on July 4 awarding four Texas Rangers VIP tickets to the winner.

Today’s Nathan’s qualifier at Winstar World Casino in Thackerville, OK is expected to start at 1 pm central time.
Nate Biller and Bam Martinez along with Pete Davekos and Yasir Salem are expected to compete in Sunday's Nathan's qualifier at the Winstar Casino in Thackerville, OK. Kevin "LA Beast" will be a last minute addition to the field. Mary Bowers will headline the women's division. (A Mary Bowers victory could send the women's wild card into disarray. She appears to be currently leading the female runners-up with 9.5, and it is not clear who would become the top wild card after a win since the women's runners-up have generally not been announced and it is possible that they have not been recorded at all.)
Trevor "Macho Borracho" Iordanides won $1000 at a hot dog eating contest held at The Stand in Dallas by eating 26 mini hot dogs in 10 minutes. Trevor will have his image painted on a mural as part of his prize package.
The Stand will hold a hot dog eating contest in Dallas on June 2 awarding $1,750 ($1,000) to the winner.
Ed Dravecky ate 43 enchiladas in 10 minutes to win a Caribbean trip at Enchilada's in Dallas Saturday.

update Apr 29 Erik Denmark posted a picture of the score sheet which listed weights. Apparently the individual trays were not weighed before the contest. The original weight was assumed to be 20 multiplied by the average weight of a wing.

3) Nate Biller 100 wings. (It is rather strange that weights are not being announced for a contest that is based on mass consumed and not wing count.)
Dallas.Eater.com reports that "Notorious" Bob Shoudt, Erik "The Red" Denmark and Bryan "Big Sexy" Beard are expected in the Hooters wing eating qualifier in Mesquite, TX a week from today.
“Strasburger” debuts at Nationals home opener
The “Strasburger” made its debut at yesterday’s Washington Nationals home opener (it will not be available at all home games). The 8 pound burger named in honor of pitcher Stephen Strasburg weighs 8 pounds, costs $59 and has 8,000 to 10,000 calories. The second Strasburger ever purchased was reportedly finished by a two person team. (There are no listed prizes or official recognition for a sole finisher.)

The next qualifiers in the Hooters Wing Circuit will take place in Indianapolis on April 18 (first Hoosier state IFOCE contest since 2006 Indiana State Fair) and at the Real Texas Festival in Mesquite, TX (east Dallas area) on April 28. update Registration for the Indianapolis qualifier will open today at 4pm. Enchilada's in Dallas will hold an enchilada eating contest on May 5 awarding a trip to the Caribbean.
McFadden's in Addison, TX (Dallas area) will hold a wing eating contest on Sunday awarding $250 to the winner.
Dax "The Ginger" Swanson has the top 3 from today's pork barbecue sandwich held during Dickey's Barbecue 70th anniversary celebration in Dallas today: 1) Eric Dahl 12.5 sandwiches 2) Randy Santel 11 sandwiches 3) Dax Swanson 6 sandwiches (a picture).
