No official decision appears to have been announced, but the Houston Astros website does report that the Astros game on Friday will be played at 1:05 pm if it appears that Ike will threaten Houston.

The Press Citizen reports that the University of Iowa has reinstated a corn eating contest held in conjunction with Beat [Iowa] State Week after it was cancelled last year due to concerns over the national obesity rate. To allay health concerns, the contest format was changed from a timed event to one that awards victory to the first person to finish a single ear of corn.
The contest took place this afternoon, results have yet to be posted.

(From megamunch email). The blog for Turkey Hill Ice Cream announces an ice cream contest
The contest will feature four preliminary showdowns held at the WIP game day tent at the Wachovia Center before the first four Eagles home games of the season. In each contest, eight contestants will battle to see who can eat the most ice cream. But there’s a catch: They can’t use their hands (you didn’t think it would be easy, did you?). The winner will advance to the final eat-off on November 8 and will also receive a poster and helmet autographed by Eagles star Brian Dawkins.
On November 8, the four winners of the preliminary rounds will face off and the champion will receive two tickets to see the Eagles take on the Giants in New York as well as limo transportation and hotel accommodations!
A registration form and rules are available at 610 WIP’s website
The qualifier dates are:
9/7/2008 Vs Rams
9/21/2008 Vs Steelers
10/5/2008 Vs Redskins
10/26/2008 Vs Falcons

The location for the second Skin’s hot dog contest on September 12 is not explicitly listed. It is probably the Chattahoochee Mountain Fair based on the logo.
