What Shirota wants for Christmas: a 12kg stomach capacity
In a recent blog entry, Nobuyuki “the Giant” Shirota describes the current state of his stomach capacity:
It can make extremely simply to about 9kg, but
To fight with the people who are thought the rival, lowest we want 11kg.
As for ideal 12kg.
By the way, when most the stomach becomes large, 12.5kg.

Kobayashi in NYC for filming (with Sonya Thomas?)
In his latest blog entry, Kobayashi says his recent trip to New York City included a filming session. He does not say if this will be another for another Saturday Night Live sketch or a different program. Sonya Thomas, who is praised by Kobayashi as the top female competitive eater and the one holding the most records also apparently attended the session, but it is not mentioned if she will appear in the program.

Wing Bowl hoagie qualifier moved to Dec 30
610wip.com has been retooled and it announces that the hoagie qualifier for the Wing Bowl will be held on December 30. The original date was January 20. Eaters who want a spot will need to call the Glen Macnow show.

Takeru Kobayashi appears on ESPN.com’s ballot for the All SportsNation Team along with names like LeBron James, LaDanian Tomlinson and Zinadine Zidane. The top five vote getters will be named to the team.
Joey Chestnut finishes Quadruple Bypass Burger in 1:42
heartattackgrill.com reports that Joey Chestnut finished the Quadruple Bypass Burger in 1:42 on December 19, less than half of the previous record of 3:55 held by Jed Donahue.
The Heart Attack Grill has set up an online Wall of Fame which will eventually list the top 100 times for the Quadruple Bypass Burger. Nurse Caterina has the fastest women’s time of 8:20
“Eatipus Rex” at Baltimore Crabcakes video
Christian “Eatipus Rex” Larsen filmed a short documentary about his competing in the Baltimore crabcake contest in April and uploaded it to youtube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AUj6LVGLrv8 The video focuses on Larsen’s rivalry with Crazy Legs Conti. “Eatipus Rex” made an impressive IFOCE debut with 17 crabcakes, just 3 behind Crazy Legs.

(From philly.com Wing Bowl page) Competitive eating has a male killer in Sonya Thomas and now it has a mail devourer. “U. S. Mail” qualified for the Wing Bowl by eating letters.
In another Wing Bowl stunt, the 3rd place finisher in the 2006 Wing Bowl, “Dr. WingLove” DQed during his stunt of eating 25 bunless hotdogs in 5 minutes. The parameters of his stunt were less stringent than the 23 bunless hot dogs in 3:10 Lynda Kuerth ate in 1977 in Philadelphia.
updated nj.com has an article about Rob “the Slob” Peachey, who failed to complete his stunt after having the Wing Bowl territory expanded to include his hometown.

(from R Suzuki) Natsuko “Gal” Sone appeared on a “Star Search” type program which can be viewed at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vb7127Fmx24. The judges thought her singing was better than her male opponent’s by a margin of 7 to 3. Gal Sone did not eat, but Nobuyuki “the Giant” Shirota had a sushi eating contest against the two female members of the three person team that beat Gal Sone in a shish kebab contest.

Pat Philbin has regained his #24 IFOCE ranking that he had before the “Baby Bird” video.

Don “Moses” Lerman’s foot tumor is benign
Don “Moses” Lerman says that the biopsy reports from his foot tumor have come back and it was found to be benign, which is excellent news. Moses also says that he intends to have a web cam installed on his website in the near future.

Juliet Lee article in Fredrick News Post
The Fredrick News Post has an article about Juliet Lee, the only woman competing in tomorrow’s Chock full o’Nuts World Date Nut Bread-Eating Championship. Ms. Lee taught chemistry at a community college in China before emigrating to the United States and opening a beauty salon in Germantown, MD.
UK sprout eating record attempt fails
(Thanks Berenice Baker) BBC reports that Richard Townshend of Exeter, England failed to break the sprout eating record of 43 in one minute. Mr Townshend finished with 36 sprouts. The record attempt raised £250 for charity. See also: icWales, Daily Record
