The official Los Angeles Dodger blog says that tickets in the all you can eat section will be $20 if purchased in groups of 30 or more (as compared to $35 or $40), so groups of eaters might want to take advantage of that rate:
The truth is, the majority of seats that are purchased in the RFP during the season go to large groups like Little Leagues, AYSO soccer, company outings, etc. For any group over 30, the cost of the AYCE seats are only $20 and I think we can all pretty much agree that at that price, the fan is getting a great deal that can’t be found almost anywhere else in the entertainment world (i.e. the movies, a hockey game, etc.)
(Thanks Krista) The New Yorker reports that IFOCE president Richard Shea has founded a group with two other people called called Commuters Allied for Responsible Enjoyment to oppose a proposed ban on the sale and consumption of alcohol on the Long Island and Metro North commuter rail systems. The New Yorker describes Shea’s involvement:
A professional public-relations man, Shea is, by his own admission, an improbable activist. “Normally, I am an opponent and a proponent of nothing,†he said last Thursday night, on the 5:46 to Chappaqua.
The group will have a website at alliedcommuters.com which has yet to open

The Dallas Wing Championship Series Finals will take place sometime in the near future. (The second round contest that was supposed to be held last weekend was cancelled due to weather) Last year’s contest had a preliminary contest between teams from Hooters and ESPN Gameday. Here are some pictures from that event:

Brian Seiken has a message to his readers on beautifulbrian.com:
After reading through the countless number of emails from loyal supportive and caring fans i had no choice but to bring back Beautifulbrian.com after just a 4 day hiatus. I had no intention of bringing back the site anytime soon until certain issues were ironed out. Some of those issues i mentioned during the brief hiatus. Although all of your emails were sincere and heartwarming to say the least, the one that really convinced me was from a little girl(so she says) who claimed she couldnt sleep because mommy was upset that i took the site down. OMG ive heard it all!

From AICE News:
Mark Lyle does Wet Taco demonstration (dunking the Tacos) and shows the world why Picnic Style rules is hard. In doing so, Vacuum breaks Sonya Thomas’s WR of 2:14. It makes you wonder how many of the so-called IFOCE records are a sham?
Sonya Thomas lists her taco record as 48 in 11 minutes, and she still managed a pace (about 2:20 per 10 tacos) near Mark Lyle’s.
ThinkYouCanCompete.com‘s second video based contest has opened. The new contest involves eating 10 twinkies in “picnic” fashion.
(Thanks Laura Flynn) The Readers Digest website has a slideshow of extraordinary accomplishments containing a picture of Sonya Thomas. In the caption, Sonya describes her first contest at the Molly Pitcher travel plaza Nathan’s qualifier.

from supersizedmeals.com An AP article from August 2000 reports that Denny McNurlen ate 150 ounces of a 205 ounce steak at AJ’s steakhouse in Grinnell Iowa over a period of over almost 5 hours. The 205 ounce weight of the steak broke the previous Guinness record by 5 ounces. For more meager appetites, an 80 ounce steak is available which is free to eaters who complete it in under an hour. Another interesting feature of the restaurant are charcoal pits enabling diners to grill their own steaks.
The missing person in tonight’s episode of “Without a Trace” (CBS 10 pm Eastern, might be delayed due to NFL playoff) is a competitive eater who vanishes after winning $5,000 in a chili eating contest.
