Philly.com’s Inqlings page has a paragraph about Bill “El Wingador” Simmons’ establishment:
El Wingador’s To-Go – the eatery at Fourth and Girard backed by five-time Wing Bowl winner Bill “El Wingador” Simmons – is dark after only four months. Sign on the door mentions a temporary closing due to “unforeseen circumstances beyond our control” and expresses a hope to “reopen soon, possibly under new management.”

From a Katherine Searight email:
I just wanted to say congratulations to Chip Simpson who graduated from
graduate school yesterday with his Doctorate of Physical Therapy. I guess all the
eaters will now have to call him Dr. Chipburger. Thought maybe you would want to
post it on eatfeats so he can get the recognition he deserves.
Thanks

stuff.co.nz has an article about a Kentucky Fried Chicken Eating contest in New Zealand. Even though the contest was an informal affair not open to the public, it still drew criticism from public officials:
The event drew the ire of Waikato District Health Board officials who said it sent the wrong message at a time when the district and country were facing an obesity epidemic.

The Plymouth State newspaper has an article about a hot dog contest held there. Jared Rennie won the men’s division by consuming whopping 12.5 dogs in 12 minutes, while Maria Crawford bested the other females with a mark of 11.5 hot dogs (Surprisingly, there were 7 entrants in the men’s adult divison, while 11 women over 18 competed. I wonder if there are any other women besides, Sonya, Carlene and Takako Akasaka to do the “half deuce”

(From “The Savage” comment)
There was a hot dog eating contest in tonight’s episode of the NBC comedy, “The Office”. watchingtheoffice describes the contest in their recap of tonight’s episode:
Next event, Michael had Pam cooks up hundreds of hotdogs for a hotdog eating contest. No one is really keen on the idea and in his frustration Michael finally reveals his plan. Whoever excells at these challenges will be the next regional manager. Stanley starts stuffing his face.
Stanley: “I would rather work for an up-turned broom with a bucket for a head than work for anyone else in this office besides myself. Game on!â€
Creed walks up, “No one told me we were having hotdogs.†The fish he caught earlier is now only bones.

If there is anything more bizarre than a fake-tan Tsujiji, is a rapper dude cross-dressing as a gyaru in a sailor school uniform and dancing Para para.

HerosTv.com describes some sections of the upcoming “Simpsons” video game:
The Wii version will include a mini-game where Homer is in a eating contest and players must use the Wii remote as a spoon.
The level that was shown at the event was called “Around the World in 80 Bits†and featured Homer eating a bunch of ethnic foods (including the Insanity Chili Pepper from the “Vision Quest†episode) and growing into a huge, Katamari-esque, ball of lard.
Hopefully the mini-game will be more successful than the most recent Wii / competitive eating fusion.

The location for the June 9 Charlotte Nathan’s qualifier has not been listed yet on the IFOCE or Nathan’s website, but the website for Concord Mills says it will take place at that site. Concord Mills is 10 miles northeast of Charlotte off I-85.
A haiku appears on an IFOCE website about the possibility of Boone and Steakbellie competing in that event. (It is surprising Steakbellie would travel south when there are plenty of qualifiers near Philly) Juliet Lee told Brian Seiken she intends to compete in Charlotte.
