OxfordStudent.com reports that a promotional video for a burrito eating contest held at Mission Burrito in Oxford, England was found to contain pornographic imagery.  
Krystal will hold a "Square Off for Square Meals" eating contest at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga tomorrow. The winner will be the first to eat 6 Krystal burgers.  
Tim Ryan from Allendale, NJ ran 5 miles and ate 12 donuts in 30:10 to win yesterday's Krispy Kreme Challenge in Raleigh, NC. The female runner-up, Brenda Wilson, was 56.

Stanford has been announced as the winner of the 2013 Beef Bowl, outeating Michigan State by 15 pounds of prime rib at Lawry’s in Beverly Hills. Patch.com has a history of the pre-Rose Bowl event, which was called the Beef Scrimmage from 1970 to 1972. Michigan State lost despite having a twitter devoted to its “Meat Squad”.

The Kansas State newspaper has a listing of the best wing eaters on the University of Michigan football team in advance of the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl tomorrow. (It does not appear that an actual wing eating contest will be held in conjunction with that event.)
The Mountain West Conference has a video of yesterday's pie eating contest where members of the Fresno State football team defeated USC Trojans as part of pre-game festivities for the Las Vegas Bowl.

The Utah State student newspaper reports that the NCAA prevented members of the football and basketball teams from competing in a charity event at Angie's in Logan, UT where they would attempt to eat the "Kitchen Sink" ice cream challenge.

2012-13 college football bowl eating contests

Several college football bowls held eating contests as part of their pre-game activities:

  • Rose Bowl (Pasadena, CA) Wisconsin defended their Lawry’s Beef Bowl title by eating a total of 619 pounds of prime rib to defeat Stanford by 17 pounds. Joshua Garnett and Dallas Lewallen of Wisconsin were reportedly the individual winners with 7 24-ounce steaks eaten.
  • Chick-fil-A Bowl (Atlanta) LSU outate Clemson at Sal Grosso’s Brazillian Steakhouse by 624 pounds to 454
  • Music City Bowl (Nashville) NC State outate Vanderbilt by 19 ribs. NC State’s Rogers Clark ate 21 ribs in 2 minutes to win the individual contest.
  • Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl (Tempe, AZ) Michigan State ate an average of 33 wings per player to defeat TCU by a margin of 13. MSU’s Shawn Kamm was the individual winner with 65 wings.
  • Outback Bowl (Tampa) Ashton Tate of South Carolina ate 8 mini key lime pies to defeat Michigan’s Ben Braden by 3 pies.

Registration for the 2013 Krispy Kreme Challenge is now open. Entrants in the February 9 event will run two and a half miles from NC State University to a Krispy Kreme in Raleigh, NC, eat a dozen donuts and then return to the starting line. Over 3,000 people have registered since registration opened on December 1. (Registration will be capped at 8,000).
