The Wing Off schedule for Wing Bowl 22 has been announced. The first Wing Off will take place on Friday at PJ Whelihan's in West Chester, PA. The finals on January 21 will award a spot in the finals.

Pat Bertoletti ate 2 pounds of scrapple and a pound of cream cheese in 100.3 seconds today on ustream to qualify for Wing Bowl 22. This will be the first Wing Bowl appearance for him since the Wing Bowl 16 in 2008 and fills two of the four spots that will be awarded for performing stunts on streaming video.

Wing Bowl 22 to award $22,000 and two cars

The prizes for Wing Bowl 22 have been announced. The overall winner will receive $22,000, which surpasses the $20,000 first prize for the 2009 Krystal Square Off. (The Japanese Food Battle Clubs of 2000-2002 awarded a million yen (around $100,0000)). The local and collegiate winners will receive Chrysler 200s. Tickets will go on sale on December 10.

The contest rules can be accessed on the entry form. United States residents living outside greater Philadelphia can attempt to qualify by performing a stunt that will be streamed on skype or ustream.

Jamie McDonald, Jon Squibb, Takeru Kobayashi and Joey Chestnut will receive byes as previous champions if they want to compete. (Sonya Thomas is not listed as a bye recipent.)

update Dec 3 Jamie McDonald has announced he will defend his title and his goal is 320 wings.

Wing Bowl 22 hopefuls can start calling in qualification stunt ideas on Monday. Ticket information will also be announced on that date.
The youtube channel for 94WIP has a teaser video for Wing Bowl 22. The contest page has been updated with a new logo, but has no other additional information about the January 31, 2014 contest.
Philly.com has an interview with Bill "El Wingador" Simmons, who says he hopes to enter the Intensive Supervision Program which would truncate his seven year sentence for trafficking drugs to less than 12 months. When he is out of prison, he hopes to compete against Jamie McDonald in a future Wing Bowl and write a tell-all book. update The article made the cover of The Daily News.
NJ.com reports that Bill "El Wingador" Simmons was sentenced with a 7 year prison term today after he pleaded guilty to possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute. update Simmons could be out of jail in 4 months if he is accepted into the NJ intensive supervision program and claims he made $1,000 a week distributing drugs.

Four floor passes to Wing Bowl 22 are up for auction at Eagles Radiothon (Item #40). The date of that contest will be January 31, 2014.
The West Deptford, NJ Patch reports that Bill "El Wingador" Simmons has pleaded guilty to second-degree possession of cocaine with intent to distribute after he was arrested on June 15, 2012. The Gloucester (NJ) County prosecutor will recommend a seven year prison term for the five time Wing Bowl champion when he is sentenced on September 20, which could be reduced following an intensive supervision program.
The runners-up column in the Wing Bowl Wikipedia page has been vandalized so that Rich "The Gavone" Sica is listed as having finished second (with 323 wings) in 2003 instead of Don "Moses" Lerman. "Bill 'El Crackhead' Simmons" is listed as the runner-up in 2011.
About a year after Bill "El Wingador" Simmons was arrested for narcotics distribution, another Wing Bowl veteran has made news away from the contest table. Philly.com reports that celebrity boxing promoter Damon Feldman wanted to fight "Gentleman" Jerry Coughlan at the Columbus Club. On twitter, Damon Feldman incorrectly claimed that Coughlan was a Wing Bowl champion, but he was the top local in 2007. (Bill "El Wingador" Simmons faced off against pro wrestler Brutus Beefcake in a 2009 celebrity boxing match after Jose Canseco withdrew.)

Philly.com has the full list of Wing Bowl 21 competitors. Wayne Algenio, Andrew Skweres, and Jordan Avalos received the New York City, Chicago and Dallas berths. The odds are also available. Jon Squibb is the favorite in the national competition at 3-2 with Jamie McDonald behind him at 2-1. In the local competitors, Richard Razzi is the favorite at 3-1 and Dave "US Male" Goldstein is behind him at 4-1. "Snack" Jack Diamond is the biggest underdog at infinity-1 odds. CBS' Mancave blog has a list of the last five Wing Bowl Champions starting with Sonya Thomas.
The big announcement for Wing Bowl 21 is that a one hour highlight package will be available on http://watchwingbowl.cbslocal.com/. The video will cost $5 to watch, $7 after February 1.
NJ.com has a report on Jon Squibb's quest to regain his Wing Bowl title and the Drexel University paper has an article about MBA student Anthony “Wiz-Kid” Wisniewski, who qualified for Wing Bowl 21 by eating a cow tongue in five and a half minutes.
