Patch has more on the five pound burrito eating contest to be held at American Burrito in New City, NY on Monday that will award $300 to the winner, who will have the option of eating a second five pound burrito after the contest that will result in a $500 bonus if it is completed or a $100 penalty if it is not finished. Jamie McDonald is expected to compete.
Entrants from area colleges are being accepted for the College Wing Eating Contest at the Buffalo Wing Festival this weekend.

DMagazine reports that Kobayashi will compete in a hot dog eating contest at the Texas State Fair in Dallas on October 16.

Takeru Kobayashi will attempt to eat 100 hot dogs without buns at the New York State Fair in Syracuse this evening to set a new record. (The only bunless hot dog record I am aware of it Lynda Kuerth’s mark of eating 23 frankfurters in 3:10 in 1977 recognized by Guinness, which stopped maintaining speed eating records in the early 1990s.) A press release announces that 230 Fifth in Manhattan will sell a hot dog costing $2300 with all proceeds being donated to the City Harvest charity. The rooftop bar was the site of a 2011 exhbition where Takeru Kobayashi reportedly ate 69 hot dogs.

Kobayashi / Hofmann partnership details
Syracuse.com and DMagazine have articles about Takeru Kobayashi’s press conference this morning where his partnership with Hofmann Hot Dogs was officially announced. Some notes:
- Takeru Kobayashi will own 50% of a new division Hofmann has created to produce a Kobayashi-branded hot dog.
- Hofmann is planning to open a restaurant in Dallas, possibly as soon as September. (Cowboys legend Roger Staubach is another Hofmann part-owner, so that might be the reason for the location.)
- Kobayashi will compete in a hot dog contest against a “ferocious competitor” at the Great New York State Fair on August 25.
Syracuse.com reports that Hofmann Hot Dogs has added Takeru Kobayashi as a business partner / brand ambassador. The partnership will officially announced at a press conference at the Turning Stone Resort and Casino. Kobayashi might compete in a Hoffman hot dog eating contest at the New York State Fair.

The MLE facebook confirms that the Hooters wing eating contest finals will take place in Clearwater, FL on July 26 instead of in New York City on July 27. The new finals site was mentioned in a June 26 press release about the Fresno pre-qualifier.
