Go!Go!Curry! has announced the current leaders in qualifying for its curry eating championship on May 26 (the top 5 times will compete in the finals): "Japanese Champ Mr. Okamura 0:53sec US Joe Menchetti 0:46sec Paul Arcaria 0:51sec Louis Wong 1:50 sec Rex Feng 1:53 sec Ryan Wynn 2:16 sec". The final qualifying session will take place tomorrow.

Kobayashi to compete in Crif Dog Classic in NYC July 4
(via Darren Rovell) CrifDogClassic.com has a press release announcing that Takeru Kobayashi will compete in a hot dog eating contest at Roberta’s in Brooklyn on July 4. Other listed competitors are Stephanie Torres, Tom Gilbert, Johnnie Excel, Dave “US Male” Goldstein and Brad Sciullo. No prizes or qualifiers are listed; two entrants will be selected using reddit.com. The competition will be streamed on SI.com.
$15,000 purse announced for Hooters wing finals in NYC on July 28. Breakdown: $7,500 / $3,000 / $2,000 / $1,000 / $750 / $500 / $250
The website for Go!Go!Curry! has a page about its 2012 eating contest. As in previous years, the finals on May 26 at the Times Square location will award a $500 AmEx gift card.
Pickle Me Pete will hold a pickle eating contest in Manhattan on May 27.
Qualifying for the 4th Go! Go! Curry! eating championship will start on April 25.
The twitter for Simon's Deli announces that it will be the site of a cannoli eating contest on tonight's episode of Mama's Boys of The Bronx on TLC at 10 pm eastern. One of the characters on the program is "Pretty Boy" Pete D(iFiglia), which might be a trademark violation.

ESPN New York reports that the Carnegie Deli has added the "Jetbow" sandwich to its menu in honor of Tim Tebow's trade to the New York Jets. The sandwich weighs 3.5 pounds and contains corned beef, pastrami, roast beef and American cheese and white bread. The Village Voice gave the new item a negative review. In 2010, the deli created a "Lebron MVP" sandwich to entice LeBron James to sign with the Knicks.
Joe LaRue will attend the Central New York Maple Festival in Marathon, NY on March 24, but will do an interview instead of competing in the pancake eating contest. update Joe LaRue has emailed that does not expect to attend and has had no contact with the festival about appearing.

Robbie Wizenberg won the amateur contest with 14, but did not beat Will Millender's total (25) which would have doubled his prize. A picture of the Nathans' Famous wall of fame with Kobayashi can still be viewed on the official facebook for the restaurant chain. The wall was redone last year to remove Kobayashi's image.
The Yeshiva University website has a blog entry about Takeru Kobayashi's appearance last night where he helped at a giant hamantaschen in honor of Purim. The event was organized by Yeshiva's Stern College for Women Chemistry Club.
