The Austin Ice Cream Festival twitter claims that Joey Chestnut will compete at the festival on August 14. The contest web page makes no mention of Chestnut or IFOCE affiliation for the eating contest.
In a bodybuilding.com forum thread, PhillipH states he was a member of the first four person team to complete the 42 inch pizza at Big Lou's in San Antonio. Phillip ate 6 of the 16 slices of the 30 pound pizza, making his total amount eaten more than 11 pounds.
The Dallas Observer reports that Russo's NY Coal-Fired Pizzeria in Richardson, TX will have a 28 inch pizza eating contest on July 29 that will award $500 to the winner. The entry fee is $50.
Kenny's Burger Joint sent out free 7 pound "El Jefe" burgers to D Magazine, Dallas News and Pegasus News and received coverage from all three outlets.
KXAN has a news video from the July 4 veggie hot dog eating contest in Austin Texas. Bill "The Weiner Cleaner" Chedsey was the winner with 17.875 veggie dogs.

Pho King Way will award $1000 to a customer that can finish its 6 dish challenge in under one hour. The restaurant has 3 Texas locations (2 DFW), 2 Southern California sites and an Albuquerque location.

Traders Village in Houston has a gallery of a contest where competitors ate the 72 ounce steak meal from the Big Texan Steak Ranch. Bud Caudill finished his meal in 28 minutes and Donice Krueger was the runner up with a time of just under 40 minutes. (The only faster female time for the 72 ounce steak meal I am aware of is 30 minutes for Carlene LeFevre). IFOCE.com announces that registration opens today at 3pm for a new June 13 Nathan's qualifier at WinStar Casino in Thackerville, Oklahoma (about 75 miles north of Dallas/Fort Worth). There is also information about the two qualifiers for military personnel at Fort Bragg and Naval Air Station Oceana. (It does not say if the 20 hot dog minimum will be in effect for the military qualifiers)
